Use bikes to do what needs to be done as much as possible (groceries, kid to school, library, get Christmas trees etc.). PhD in Astronomy some years ago. Enjoy computer programming as a hobby and for work. Help researchers use computer clusters and cloud.
The world is so different from when I went to uni. People get COVID over and over, I am still dealing with long COVID I got 2 years ago. I just don't have the energy now to sustain thought like I used to. On top of that, the powerful have so fucked their future, it must be hard to feel motivated.

In a time where I have lost faith in most politicians, he was one of the politicians I felt had the courage to do what was needed. A terrible loss, and it certainly doesn't make me feel any better about the liberals. Feels like they are just conservatives in red.

Well.. here is one, but with a picture. The Stars in Paris from 2015.

and thanks for leaving me with almost 60% battery charge.

your very welcome.

if it wasn't' a bot, it likely came from someone from the suburbs who has no idea how functional a bike is in the city.

I have heard that "minimum effective credit price of $130 per tonne" isn't nearly high enough to enough of an effect and it needs to be more like $400 per tonne or more. I would be thrilled to learn that MC is being clever here and that he will get our emissions to drop. But i am highly suspicious.

What if....this isn't just some uneducated bafoon, but rather a strategic manipulation of disinformation. We are facing a coordinated attack on bike lanes across the country.
November 28, 2025 at 11:21 AM
I guess he doesn't realize that bikes are small. Perhaps even the same size as a bus?
November 28, 2025 at 11:08 AM
Yeah.. but most importantly, it isn't going to allow us to keep increasing our usage of FF. We need to cut it back, and use CCS for the little bit we can't cut.

In Halifax, we build bike lanes so you can walk in them.
November 27, 2025 at 8:13 PM
Don't worry.. a car will run into it soon enough and knock it down.
November 27, 2025 at 8:12 PM
Started listening to that episode.. I have heard it before about how much FF energy is wasted, they say about 2/3. But while listing I was thinking.. you know who benefits from selling something that you waste 2/3 of, those that sell it. It is the ultimate planned obsolescence.

love the Volts podcast.

Carbon capture only works to capture emissions during extraction, often 15% or less than the total associated emissions with the products. Most of it comes when we use it, e.g. burn it. Also, even capturing that 15% isn't really financially viable.

Yeah, I have heard that Quebec, and Ontario are supposed to get a lot snow this year. In NS currently enjoying our 13C day. I don't think we are expected to get more snow than usual, maybe even less and it has been getting less and less every year. I miss it. Enjoy, I am a little jealous.

I am starting to get a sense of it... seems like it is more of a way to document these occurrence, to raise awareness for the issue by collecting and presenting evidence. They don't use it report individual issues.

I miss snow.

Like with the climate crisis, it has become a political issue because, when we do/did something about it, it impacted the profits of the rich & powerful. One of the most meaningful dents in GHG emissions occurred during early part of the pandemic. Can' hurt those oil and gas profits, shut it down.

Just submitted to BLU, I was collecting pictures of obstructions in the Dal bike lanes.. maybe I should start uploading those too ;)

Watching this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0v-...

mentions in Chicago over 46,000 bike lane obstructions which total over $7M in unrealized fines. New way to fund bike lane construction in HRM?
