In the 80s, you couldn't literally choose your voters with computer generated maps on demographic analysis, so population based reps still had to be accountable. Not so much now. Now this doesn't apply to statewide races like Senators, but a lot of people don't vote or are just vile.

I really hate dooming. But, didn't the Supreme Court say that bribes literally don't exist unless they are accompanied by a note saying, "Here is a bribe for x, please do x, which will benefit me, the person giving you this bribe"?

Federal government buildings can literally do whatever they want without doing any permitting anywhere if they don't want to. I learned this recently because the Boston VA Hospital did it in my neighborhood. Not derogatory in that case, they just are not constrained in the same way.

Didn't we see that in term 1 with a guy who lived here 20 yrs, and the entire small town near South Bend got interviewed and said, "Yea, it's tragic." Then went back to voting Trump and similar monstrous conservative assholes like it was nothing. Bad ppl exist and won't change...

They don't need to pass the bill if they just keep getting to do the bad thing regardless of the law, which seems to be their current strategy. J6ers faced zero consequences already...and ICE agents are basically free to do anything due to qualified immunity
