Reeves has a real talent for picking vote losers. Thinking of changing the rules around being able to buy a bike through untaxed income will not fill the 'fiscal black hole' #urbanism #cycling

Raffling your house is harder than it looks. One woman who did it (successfully) said she barely slept for a month and a half and lost two stone in weight. Another woman in Ireland made £950,000 from ticket sales on a £250,000 cottage. www.azrealestate.uk/2025/07/30/w....

The heifer wandering around Ambridge for days recently is called Brenda. Who knew?? #TheArchers
“So it was, on that misty morning, that Brenda set off for the capital. She knew not what she would find there, only that the time had come to move on - away from small-minded rural attitudes and people who called her ‘Oreo’ and ‘the wide panda’ - to seek a more fulfilling life.”

Disaster capitalism in action: A 2022 study (Journal of Environmental Economics and Management) found that real estate prices in areas damaged by hurricanes can rise 5% to 10% higher than in non-damaged areas. This article's great on how to mitigate this. #Urbanism nextcity.org/urbanist-new...

What’s your definition window/period for the ‘same time’? I was thinking; new characters who’ve remained in last 12 months - Dane 🙄, Amber 😣, Carly (a returner), Esme 😫, the Maliks 😊 & Rochelle 🤯. Whom have I missed? Need to replenish the cast after Peggy, Carpet & Roy’s departures. #TheArchers

Would your home have been under a flyover? Amazing post from Jim at Londoncentric on the lucky escape our capital had from being turned into a conglomeration of US-style freeways. Living near the Great West Way, suddenly that crazy road makes sense #urbanism #motornormativity @ianwalker.bsky.social
I’d always wondered why no one had ever published a full, detailed map of the 1960s plan to turn London into a giant web of US-style urban motorways…. It turns even the politicians and designers didn’t make one at the time. It just didn’t exist. Until now.
Earlier this week I spoke to London Centric about the Ringways Map and all things unbuilt London - they’ve dedicated the whole of their latest edition to the story! substack.com/home/post/p-...

📣 YOUR OPINION NEEDED 📣 I've applied for a thing and they want me to make a video to 'get to know me better'. Videography is not a part of the thing I'm applying for and is not my strongpoint (understatement). It will take me hours if not days to produce crap video. Shall I withdraw application?

My uncle was making a heartfelt speech at the pub lunch after my Dad's funeral and someone came out the kitchen with part of our order, yelling: 'Meon burger??' Everyone fell about. I can't remember thinking we'd let him down. And yeah, it is something we remember and laugh about #TheArchers
