Thanks to Doug Ford, there will be zero chance of Toronto making it on the Copenhagenize Index anytime soon. 🤬 #BikeTO #TOpoli #ONpoli #VisionZero
These things are always hard to measure, but the Copenhagenize Index ranks Montreal as the 15th most bike-friendly city in the world.

Top 5 in North America:
1. Montreal
2. Quebec City
3. Vancouver
4. Portland
5. Minneapolis

I worry we’ll fall in the next few years though!

Ford has been on a conservation authority hunt for six years. It’s wonky enough that Ontario won’t care (because they seem to care about … not much when it comes to this govt) but profound negative impact. On and on.
The Doug Ford government is setting its sites on conservation authorities for the fifth time, merging the watershed protection agencies. Staff tell @fatimabsyed.bsky.social it may ‘slow approvals, create confusion’ — not to mention it's leaving them with ‘whiplash.’ thenarwhal.ca/ontario-cons...

Mayor Olivia Chow has set an item about rental protections as her first key matter, so that'll be considered first. After that: snow.

A typical heavy user of genAI (eg. a student that regularly uses chatGPT), generates ~2.5kg of CO₂ in an *entire year*.

That's the equivalent of driving just 10km.
November 11, 2025 at 4:03 PM
This is about the same amount of CO₂ that ~184,000 typical cars in the US produce in a year, which is just 0.06% of the ~300M US vehicles.
Let's keep things in perspective. AI usage is a drop in the bucket compared to car pollution.

How to quickly improve traffic and make driving safer in Ontario?:
Make snow tires mandatory like Quebec, BC, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Czechia (and many other countries) do.

~30% of Ontario drivers don't use winter tires, and b/c of it, they're slower and more dangerous when it snows.

The climate crisis is a wealth issue.
There are 6000+ active superyachts, each one on average using 325,000 L of fuel per year, with many using far more. That's enough fuel to make ~23,000,000 disposable plastic bags *per yacht* per year.
