New to the site so reaching out to follow archaeologists. I've worked in commercial archaeology since 2002 and am currently in the final year of a PhD studying death in Pre-Roman Wales. Also interested in how sites are reinterpreted by later generations. Recent blog annwnbccymru.com/2024/11/06/c...
Connecting with the Past – The Llanbadarn Fawr Bronze Age Urn Gravestone
Focus has always been something which I have struggled massively with, and when researching I tend to wander off on little side missions before coming back to what I am supposed to be doing. I love…

A study by Cardiff University revealed that Reform, despite having only a handful of MPs, featured in a quarter of all News At Ten bulletins over a six month period.

Labour has been pulled so far from the socialism it was founded on that we need a genuine, functional alternative. Your Party has to set up from scratch and seems already to be mired in old Labour arguments that it is already floundering. I'm genuinely excited by what the Greens have to offer

Perfect thanks I get it now, they look so much like cup marks it's really interesting to see a practical use in this context

This is probably a stupid question but how do they work?

Truly inspirational journalism from these iconic Palest!nian journalists.

Watch, share and vote! And let’s slowly work to restore our humanity.

I really should go through my second hand books properly at some point and write what is in each one as there's tonnes of bits and bobs been placed in them

Niche archaeology/history geekery but today doing research into a chapel in Denbighshire. Welsh Nonconformist history is a big interest of mine and I had totally forgotten these had been stashed by the books previous owner - pamphlets urging a no vote to the 1961 plan to allow Sunday opening of pubs
Bilingual Welsh/English pamphlet urging the people of Wales to vote against the opening of licensed premises in Wales on Sundays. Pile of books related to nonconformist history in Wales

Immediately before Christmas is the worst possible timing though! It seems like a hangover from when universities were campus based and just doesn't work anymore. It's more expensive especially in places with Christmas markets and it's an absolute nightmare if you have children

Further details on the theft - clearly carefully planned. Seems crazy to hope that the thieves realise that the value of the items is far, far more than the value of the gold they are made from. They are irreplaceable

Greta Thunberg speaks to the press after being released from illegal detainment in Israel: "I could talk for a very, very long time about our mistreatment and abuses in our imprisonment. Trust me, but that is not the story.”

It's devastating for the nation. I can't see whether the museum has released which specific artefacts have been stolen but all are irreplaceable.

Macron remarks are notable- some quotes: "We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks that are controlled either by large American entrepreneurs or large Chinese companies, whose interests are not at all the survival or proper functioning of our democracies."

We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks.”

Zack Polanski’s response to the Manchester terror attack has been a masterclass in mature statesmanship.

Soulful, human, eloquent, empathetic, nuanced, confident and focused on healing.

And bold. It has shone in contrast to so much weaponising or ill thought through commentary.

Thank you Zack. 💪

…“The onus is on the party committing genocide to stop committing genocide. The onus is not on the victims of the genocide to sign agreements in the hope of saving themselves from the genocide. This is obvious to anyone who isn’t a psychopath”

The more air time away from Reform the better! It's driving me mad how Farage and his hate are spun as the people's voice when he offers nothing - and will actively hurt a lot of people. Zack is discussing workable solutions and nationalisation of essential services -traditional labour politics!

Ok. They’ve pissed me off.

I’m back to tell you 3 things about ID cards:

1. Migrants ALREADY HAVE biometric ID cards & govts have been trying to digitise them for years w repeated fuckups & failures causing complete chaos - they don’t work, you do not want that system for you.

100%, while also making sure that people in precarious positions were made aware of how vulnerable their employment was every time anyone spoke up

So much labour done by women to demonstrate in the way in which the industry will find undeniable what we all know 😭. Amazing work by you both and let's see them try and dismiss this as 'lady data' xxx.
