Dealt with another pro se who was clearly mentally ill and we got restraining orders against. He was annoyingly persistent.

Then there are the entertaining ones. At the AG I represented the lottery against a guy who alleged he won and they didn't award. He even filed a 9th Circuit appeal.

These were generic cuckoo seditionists who I think were faxing "indictments" to every county in the state--this being 2015 or so, so there were still some fax machines around. Don't think they were actually directly affiliated with him, but same braindead unlegal concepts.

I think this is a major part of it. They don't have the time for BS dissembling and shenanigans. They weigh evidence and can sniff out lies more readily because they do it daily. Whereas appellate judges are presented with more academic items and don't (or aren't supposed to) weigh credibility.
