This is such a good illustration of the intellectual impasse at the heart of so many American political debates. No empirical evidence or appeals to someone’s humanity can argue with God. There is no case you can make when talking to a person who “knows” what God wants/intends.

and you know what? these students should also be judged, and judged harshly for this. running to the admins and state legislators and the press because you got a fairly earned failing grade on an assignment is and should be seen as a mark of extremely poor character. it makes you a very bad person.
the primary thing that TPUSA provides to young conservatives is a blueprint for weaponizing the abject cowardice of university administrators against individual teachers and instructors, and university admins should take a long look in the mirror and think about what that says about them
OU has put the professor here on administrative leave:

A boring boomer take I have is that too many newer television remotes don’t have illuminated/glow-in-the-dark buttons anymore and that’s a serious technological backslide

I know a lot of brilliant people who make really cool stuff with like no resources and could make even cooler stuff if they were actually well-resourced

If there are no consequences to the "president" for threatening political opponents with death or being cruel to reporters, then why is it even news? Just so we can all be sad about it?

I think the reason I’ve been so depressed for the last year is because as a society we decided it was morally fine to team up with dictators and supervillains as long as you were making a lot of money. Maybe that will change but a whole lot of people have already shown their figurative asses already

it is almost as if accommodating and conceding to far right ideas legitimizes them and signals to voters that the far right is a legitimate choice for governance
The Danish Social Democrats are currently on course for their worst election result since at least the Second World War, despite their brand of far-right accommodationism being touted as a blueprint for other centre-left parties.

I programmed the coffee maker to brew a full pot this morning. Husband decides it would be a good idea to use the coffee carafe as a watering can for the house plants and not replace it. Full pot of coffee brewed onto the counter, the floor…

When Republicans win elections: The people have spoken, we must let them implement their agenda.

When Democrats win elections: This totalitarian FREAK must be prevented from implementing the policies he ran on

Please don't use AI to make your event flyers and promotional material. There are so many talented artists and designers in the queer community who can make you something better. And if you can't afford them shitty MS paint flyers are queer culture, just do that instead!!

Another fundamentally cynical aspect of this narrative is the idea that pundits like Douthats wouldn't *also* accuse Democrats of radicalism if they passed a bunch of 'kitchen-table' policies. Are we really gonna pretend the NYT op-ed page would support a $20 minimum wage?
This right here, this exact sentence, is THE problem in American political journalism.

The IRA *was* cheap energy and good jobs! That was the whole bill! Democrats did precisely what political pundits are telling them to do and the pundits just ignore it.

Interesting paper! When you ask people about the most important issue "facing the country," they often say immigration. But when you ask them about issues facing them personally, it doesn't crack the top 10.

This indicates that voters are reacting to media narratives, not their own experience.

There’s this great quote from Shakespeare’s ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA where Cleo is mocking Octavius Caesar that encapsulates how it feels to have a job sometimes: “Do this, or this;
Take in that kingdom, and enfranchise that.
Perform ’t, or else we damn thee.”
