Reminder to Gen X: If you only got vaccinated in the 70s and did not receive any boosters in the 90s, you may need your titres checked and a booster.

Therapist: What do you need right now.
Me: A nap, a snack, a hug, $50k, a time machine, a vacation, a personal chef who only makes tacos, and maybe a dragon.
Therapist: Sure, let's just add world peace and a unicorn while we're at it.

Here's a draft I made! My 7 year old helped my with some suggestions of things she likes to do at the library. And I made a custom one for myself of things I want to do next year at the library.

As always, there's no time like the present to wear a crown of ancient bones, disappear into a mysterious fog, and become a reason the old forest north of town is considered haunted.

We’re constantly surrounded by information.
I don’t need more information.
I want to be surrounded by talking owls, forgetful wizards, enchanted swords that sing off-key, and tea brewing witches, studying ancient texts in the shadows.

This is your seasonal reminder that Bookshop.org and libro.fm exist as local-supporting not-Amazon options for all your physical and audiobook needs! Bookshop even gives you the option to add a card and a pretty fabric bag and ship it directly to your giftee!
Bookshop.org: Buy books online. Support local bookstores.
A better way to buy books online. Every purchase financially supports local independent bookstores.

I don’t understand why people ask you a question if they don’t want an honest answer. I was asked by someone what I would like for Christmas, but apparently a secluded castle on the Scottish coast “isn’t realistic.”

Just discovered an insane new form of co-intelligence where you briefly share the mind of a great thinker in history and then a portion of their mind travels in yours for the rest of your life. Calling it a "book."

These things would improve this country dramatically and billionaires wouldn't even notice.
Universal single payer + ubi are the two greatest small business growth policies I can think of. Also, the most powerful way to reduce poverty. Also the most effective way to increase worker power. Also the best way to reduce wealth inequality. Why wouldn't everyone want it?
“It makes it harder to go start your own business”

Ex insurance company exec @wendellpotter.bsky.social tells us how 🇺🇸 not having universal health care hurts smaller employers (can’t offer benefits and compete) + workers (who get “job locked” into jobs they don’t want). #MedicareForAllNOW

"But how do we pay for it?" That never applies to this kind of spending. It only ever applies to stuff like universal basic income and healthcare.
As Trump drags us into an Iraq-style war in Venezuela, 312 members of the House — including 115 Democrats — just voted to authorize over $900 billion in military spending.

If Bernie's Social Security bill were enacted in 2021, Musk would have paid 2.9 BILLION more in taxes, Social Security would've been solvent for 75 years, benefits would've increased by $2,400, and 93% of Americans would have paid NOTHING more in taxes. The only one 'entitled' is Elon Musk.

Oregon and 19 other states fought back — and won.

Then officials logged in to the grant website to accept the money, only to find the button to do so was disabled: propub.li/4a4Bsk5

If you were elected to public office (never mind whether you'd ever actually run), what book would you swear in on?

The Albany, Oregon, Assembly of God church made the news. An in-depth article of sex abuse of boys in the Royal Rangers program and how the churches and denomination have ignored the abuse for decades and worked to reduce legal liability. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...
