As of now there is nothing Albanese's govt has done that has changed the country in any structural way.

No change at all to how the fundamental debates of the nation are addressed.
I was (still am) a bit of a geography nerd so I definitely looked at it a lot in my younger years; I’m 100% certain I’d never noticed that before.

Pretty comical stuff truth be told.
So I have the 2002 National Geographic World Reference Atlas on my bookshelf; it was given to me when I was 14.

I now have it for the purposes of educating my own two children. Tonight, my six year-old daughter brought it over to have a look.

Check out this map of Australia on page 194.
Imagine being this bereft.
The mainstream political fourth estate in Australia continue to touch what can only be described as a fucking spectacular amount of sucktitude.
The ageing fellas at the news desk have such a boner for a strong, young white man in politics they are going to will Hastie to the top of the pile whether we like it or not.

You can almost guarantee that the AFP’s new taskforce for investigating things-that-aren’t-terrorism will be looking closely into climate activists
In the Trump era, this is terrifying. Apparently criticising capitalism 🥴🤣 is terrorism now in the US.

I suspect they sleep just fine, because their propensity to hit bottom and start digging is so well known that who would genuinely take a job there unless they know already and have no moral misgivings?
The single conclusion you can reach here, of course, is that they do not regard Palestinian journalists as real journalists because they do not regard Palestinians as being equal human beings worthy of dignity or, you know, the right to work without being blown up.
People whose only contribution to any political discourse is to ‘both sides’ everything, are genuinely the most feckless people on this planet.
Don’t have to convince me of that, it clearly is.

A favourite little side wheeze of mine is taking the piss out of the New York Times by attempting to recreate their comically bad both sides-ing angles on virtually anything you can think of.

Never seen so many desperate to lionise someone by pretending they were the complete opposite to who they proudly were than in the past couple days.

🚨Antisemitism Envoy Jillian Segal says pro-Palestine rallies should be banned from cities — but is dead silent about neo-Nazis.
Investigations reveal “Advance” — funded by Segal's family trust —spread anti-immigrant material before Sunday's rallies...

Envoy Segal silent on neo-Nazis - The Klaxon
Far-right political lobby group “Advance” — bankrolled by the family of Antisemitism Envoy Jillian Segal — spread anti-immigrant attack material ahead of the weekend’s racism-fuelled rallies.

Jillian Segal could not give a shit about **actual** antisemitism but cares absolutely and completely about silencing all criticism of Israel, to the exclusion of everything else.

It’s really that simple.

Credit where it’s due.

Who remembers that time a County Court judge wished this utter piece of shit good luck and said he had good chances of rehabilitation less than two years ago after they attacked six bushwalkers? I sure remember.
Remember when a judge said a couple years ago that they were confident he had good chances of rehabilitation?

The absolute state of this pissweak flog
I think that’s extremely likely Ian.

If you draw a triangle between Buller, Buffalo and Hotham you’re talking about some incredibly wild and remote country with very little road access. Having also hiked quite a bit on Buffalo…some of the those ravines are about as rugged as it gets.
Surely you’d just delay any trip to Bright if possible…if you’re not getting there vía Porepunkah then the alternative is from the south vía Hotham or over Tawonga Gap. Neither great options in foul winter weather.
Being winter will make this somewhat harder though.
I’m old enough to remember when sections of the media and certain prominent figures were at very deep pains to stress that sov cits hoisting gallows outside Vic parliament were actually good people with legitimate concerns.
