Ok, everyone, what book is sacred enough to you to get sworn in on?
Strange takes on Mayor Zamdani swearing his oath on the Qu’ran. It has nothing to do with church & state. The point of the oath is for the person swearing in to do so upon some text that is sacred TO THEM. Some Presidents swore in w/o any book. John Quincy Adams was sworn on a law book. His choice.

Sometimes I think about it too much and it just seems very weird how in the West if you want to have a religion you HAVE to have a book. Joseph Smith, the Prophet (PBUH), L Ron Hubbard, all of them are like "okay step one: write a book"

As the holiday season comes to a close, noche buenas, known to many as poinsettias, quietly make their way into offices, hospitals, churches, and homes, a familiar color that many of us take for granted. What most people don’t see is the care it takes to grow them. Not many nurseries do anymore.

2025 was a year of historic resilience.

Despite unprecedented challenges, we faught fearlessly to win Know-Your-Rights protections, launched strikes across the state, released multiple reports exposing industry greed, moved legislation, and defended our communities.

In 2026: We won't back down.

2026 WILL be the year I finally ride the postal boat, America’s only floating zip code.

In 2025 I mailed something that the postal boat delivered to a freighter. In 2026 I am riding that fucking thing.

Stretch goal: Meet the cat that lives in the postal boat office
okay let's do a thread of FUN ONLY, no-stress, low-stakes New Year's Resolutions that are designed not to make you become a Better™️ Person™️ but purely to increase the amount of happiness in your life in 2026

I'm going to learn Polish folk embroidery and I want to DM at least a one-shot of something

every place i've been to in indiana has water that is full of sulfur, but yet i can't find anyone promoting the healing waters of indiana.

i understand that the indiana sulfur isn't geothermal, but it still seems like a missed opportunity.

In 2025 I wrote a lot. Gave birth. Upped my teaching game. Helped bargain a winning union contract.
It was a hard year. No recaps; just gratitude to editors who patiently coaxed the best work outta me, friends who supported me, readers who shared my work, students who gave their best. Xo
