I've had this up since January and read it occasionally since then.

Today @deviantollam.bsky.social asked me what it said and I read it to him —choking up at the end.

Hold hope, my dear loves. In the end, we will prevail. #lovewins #freedomovertyranny
A photo of a message board that says:

When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall.

It’s the 111th anniversary today of the birth of Harry Rée, who was a teacher and conscientious objector when the Second World War broke out, and by the time it ended, when he was 31, had invented ‘blackmail sabotage’ and got a DSO, an OBE, a Croix de Guerre, and a Medaille de la Resistance

As shutdown enters its 3rd week, expect it to impact the economy “in a nonlinear fashion.

“.. missed paychecks, slower pace of business investment ..

“.. our initial estimate of a 0.1% drag on GDP is now outdated, and we expect a 0.25% drag per week, or 1% per month.”

TIL that the aggro af wasps you see in late summer are worker wasps who have finished their nest tasks and are all out seeking sweet stuff and raising hell for the locals with the last days of their lives while waiting to die, wasps are basically just the insect version of retired Brits in Spain

I’ve not personally had a chance to get out from the city light pollution to try for comet sightings, but you should!

I’ve heard it’s visible with binoculars/cameras now, may be naked-eye visible in dark skies this evening or within days (peak: 21 October)

Another day w/not enough hours in it...for those not in NYC, here's the Gretsch Guitar Factory building at 60 Broadway, Williamsburg Brooklyn.

There's several of these grey buildings that were once full of Gretsch factory workers building guitars, drums, etc.

Not that anybody comes to me for Maine politics, but the fact that the Democrats successfully convinced a 77yo Governor to primary the 41yo progressive, is today's example of why the Democrats fucking stay failing.

Susan Collins is 72 and if Schumer gets his way, she'll be the YOUNGER choice!

One of my favorite Hollywood stories is how Drew Struzan created the legendary poster for The Thing basically overnight, after being given absolutely no info or material from the movie aside from the longline.

After complaints about Timothy Dexter's A Pickle for the Knowing Ones (1797) being entirely devoid of punctuation, in future editions the eccentric businessman supplied a supplemental page so that people “may peper and solt as they please”: https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/dexter-pickle
