Sorting stuff into albums, I found my favorite Hummingbird video. It was in September 2022 not long before they migrated south. I did actually live outside that month. 🪶🌱 #birds #FlowerReport

It was good to have better light when a Dark-eyed Junco was enjoying all the seeds scattered below the feeders. At one point one did come halfway up the front porch stairs and we looked at each other for a second before it decided nope and left. 🪶

Tuesday was rainy, and gloomy, but a good day to watch the feeder under a cover to see how many small birds would squeeze in. 🪶
It was a dreary rainy day. The maple tree has lost almost all its leaves with some evergreens in the background. There were dark clouds behind three deodar cedars. One house finch and two chipping sparrows are in a cage feeder as a house finch sits on top a another leans in. There is a wet blue cover over it. In different poses, there are two sparrows and a house finch in the feeder with one finch on top and one on the side.

Sanderling at golden hour, standing amidst surf bubbles, facing right. The bird is standing as tall and proud as I’ve ever seen a sanderling stand (nice tongue twister huh). Her head is high and her legs are stretched. She is in winter plumage: white below, white neck, white nape, with wings and crown flecked in black. She has a faint broad smudgy eye line and black legs. The sand is steel blue in the sunset and the surf bubbles are white with a brown-yellow tint.
