Well it's Thanksgiving tomorrow here in the US. I am grateful for all the growing followers and the great community here. Thanks everyone! Here's a set of Wild Turkeys from my archive.

This large kiddo was walking in the field with his Mom I think. He was bigger than both his parents and his feather development was very advanced. Most migrating juniors don't have their red skin patch on their forehead, but his was developing already. A very mature juvie.

We have some farms west and south of our local conservancy that attract a few migrators every year. There were a few dozen on Saturday. Here is a very large male who was standing tall over all the migrators watching over things and his female. Both beautiful Sandhills!

Apparently I was a day early for the #BirdofTheDay theme of #YellowEyes so here this is again :)
Took a detour on my way home from the city today to look for snowy owls and lucked into one just before sunset. They're such beautiful birds. #birds 🌿

I have been seeing flocks of Dark-eyed Juncos all around the area. A good sign that winter is here now. There was a boisterous flock in some beautiful tall grass at our local monastery. They are very adept at getting the seeds off the stalks.

When I need a break from the cranes, there is a beautiful levee road by the river that I look for birbs on. There aren't too many birds in the winter, but I usually find something beautiful there.

This Robin was having a berry good day.

I have a few Sandhill photos to go through. Here's a nice fly by with a junior in the upper left. Love to see the young ones. They must be having the experience of their lifetime in their first migration.

Quite a few #SandhillCranes in the farm fields again. A few short clips to get the feel for the atmosphere.

Vid1-When cranes land around many others, there is alot of excitement. They flap their wings and hop around. It's not quiet!... and it's very fun to observe.

Wren No. 2 who was about 6 feet away being equally chatty and adorable.

I don't know nearly enough about Pacific Wrens to know if these might be a pair or young wrens or?

In last yard only ever saw one who pretty much seemed to own the yard.

I've got some reading to do obvi!

A large and beautiful hornet nest (I think) at one of our marshes is more easily visible as we are nearing winter. Love how it is built into the branches.

The migrating Sandhills were very far into the farm fields again this year, (drats from a photog perspective) but some flew overhead occasionally. Here's a few pics of some cranes in flight. I really love seeing the spectacle of migration.

Definitely a large sedge of Sandhill Cranes. I rarely get to use the term "sedge", it's used for when a large group of cranes have gathered and are feeding or are in community together.

These are the at the two farms I frequent to spot migration near the WI River.

The Sandhill Crane numbers were higher at the surrounding farms near the WI River this weekend. My guess is we are near peak. I saw at least 3000 on Saturday resulting in very memorable crane joy! I arrived there late, abt 9:30am, and the birds were just taking off for the day. #birds #Sandhills

I also saw about 200 Sandhill Cranes up near the Wi River last weekend. I am hoping for more this weekend. It was a dark day and the birds were deep in a farm field. They were a tad far for good pics, but here's a 100mm and a 500mm shots of what I saw.Warms my heart to see so many!

They mostly were yards behind #BEKI, but 4 or 5 #crows were harassing Mr. BEKI and it was a very high speed chase. BEKI mostly stuck to trying to fish and it was great karma when BEKI slowed and dove for fish and the crow got to experience "which way did it go?" as it flew through the splash.
