These were taken in mating season in early spring (except the first pic). Their colors change alot through the seasons here. Their colors are amazingly brilliant at peak mating season. The last two pics were taken at the same encounter. More than a dozen were lekking in a field.

I only have this one shot. This is a September photo, so the babies were pretty big. They could run like the dickens from the photographer too. The first bird in the set above had four babies with her that I could see.

Thanks Marina, I love seeing the juniors, they're great fun to spot them in the crowd. They're parents keep them close and protect them as they land in the crowd. It's so great to see.

Happy to help. The bird on the right is the youngster. They usually have orange or flesh colored feathers on the top of their head and no red skin patch on their forehead. This kid has just a little fleshy colored feathers on the back of his head and his red skin patch on the forehead is coming in.
