Hey, everyone!

You didn't realize, or weren't thinking thru effects or implications of sharing violent propaganda. Understandable!

Researchers who study nazi/supremacist imagery mark it up when sharing to render it not reusable.

So, please, "X out;" draw a line or otherwise disfigure these. 🙏🏼
Please for god's sake put a red line through Nazi propaganda if you want to re-post it. Otherwise you're just helping their project of spreading these images. It doesn't matter what words you say. If you disseminate raw images, you are doing their work for them. Please delete.

DEM TAYLOR REHMET WINS STATE SENATE SEAT IN TEXAS! The havoc wreaked by Wambsganns, Dunn, and the school boards bought and paid for with their Patriot Mobile money is featured in THE LIBRARIANS, airing Feb 9 on PBS Independent Lens @thelibrariansfilm.bsky.social @independentlens.bsky.social
Hard to overstate how big a deal a Rehmet win would be. Tarrant County is the epicenter of Christian nationalism in Texas, an incubator for far-right policies, and nexus of billionaire Tim Dunn's network, which is riding hard for Wambsganss. Rehmet almost entirely funded by donations of $100 or less
‼️‼️ Still a lot TBD, but Rehmet is leading early vote count by **13 POINTS** in a district that Trump won by 17 points. I'll be updating in this thread throughout the night.

As someone who's taught a lot of people network science, I'm famously curmudgeonly about it being overused and inappropriate in 9/10 studies that employ it.

The Epstein files release is one of few situations that demand network analysis.

OP's #1 advice is also critical. DO NOT PAY FOR A PhD, esp in the humanities (but really in any field).

This advice is bang-on. Who you will work with as a graduate student will have far FAR more repercussions for your career and who you become as a scholar than the school you go to (and it makes the day-to-day much more tolerable than going somewhere that is more prestigious but is a bad fit).
#2 advice as grad application season heats up: this is impossible for a lots of folks, but if you’ve the luxury of a choice: choose your program based on who you want to go to work with everyday.

i chose my program based on people; never regretted it. (hi, triangle folks! 💙🩵❤️)

I opened this on a coffeebreak whim and it is such a FUN paper!!
I'm so happy to share this paper. It's about the workings of trial and error in everyday food life. Examining trial and error as a generative practice helps us understand how people adapt and improvise over time, continually creating new information and knowledge.

The dispersed practice of trial and error: understanding adaptation, improvisation and change across food practices
People develop their own ways of enriching the healthiness and tastiness of certain foods, or of their diet, overall. This is often pursued through trial and error, which in this context involves t...

call for Canadian SWers to share their experiences with debanking
Canadian creators! 🌽💦
@internetmaggie.com and I are writing a report on the debanking of 🇨🇦 adult industry workers and we're looking for a few anecdotes to include. If you've been debanked and are comfortable sharing a few words about your experience (under whatever name you like), drop me a DM!

this is my first winter in London Ontario and I find it absolutely fascinating how the lakes affect the weather so much; we're getting 10cm whereas everybody south of the lakes seem to be getting a metre+, but we've had multiple days of 30+ cm and everyone else had none!
