Imagine moving from the UK to Mexico and saying that you were going to open Mexico's greatest bakery because Mexico don't have a culture of bread.

I live in NYC which is not heavily Mexican for the US, and I still live a couple of blocks from a panadería. What is this man talking about?

I’ve posted this before but the light was perfect today- a little Victorian cat paw in a brick at the front of the old Norfolk & Norwich Hospital. As this is on the front-facing corner of the main gates, the bricklayer quite clearly put it there on purpose, at a height where children would spot it.

"Srinivasan himself has started a 'Network School' on an artificial island near Singapore, where techno-optimists can work their day jobs remotely while living in a hotel together and learning how to 'bootstrap'... a new society [ — ] 'society-as-a-service'"
Tech elites are starting their own for-profit cities
They want to escape from regulation and ‘failing’ democracy — but are they more opportunistic than libertarian?

When you buy into the USPS as a business losing money, you are buying into losing these other public services:

-libraries
-public schools
-fire/EMT/911
-public transportation
-senior services
-public utilities
-roads & infrastructure

And MORE...

Public good costs very little for the benefits.

useful app for rescued or wild animals in distress
Call wildlife rehab for advice. You can find local help on the Animal Help Now website: ahnow.org. It's recommended not to give food or water until the bird has been checked. S/he may have flown into a window/structure and needs professional care. Thank you for caring!

Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

For the past six weeks, an AI Facebook account has been pulling my history posts on Instagram and slopping out new captions, so I’ve been feeding it poison pills and its followers are having meltdowns in the comments. It’s been pretty spectacular.

I do not regret to inform you that we are going to win
BASH: We have seen these attacks from the president at other people. It's not new. And I haven't heard you speak out about it until it was directed at you.

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: I think that's fair criticism. And I would like to say, humbly, I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics.

The management of this Home Depot came out with loudspeakers denouncing my pastor and the other assembled clergy members and concerned citizens as "not Godly people" and "not real Christians" which is a heck of an official policy statement to hear from a representative of the Home Depot corporation.
Just learned that my pastor, the sweetest human I ever met, led a vigil protesting Home Depot's open-doors-to-ICE policy on Dia de Muertos, and the Home Depot they were protesting shut their heavy steel security doors to the harmless clergy, something they do not do to actual ICE.
