Very real kids hear all of us when we show distain, contempt, or mockery for kids like them. Please, let's be mindful of how we speak. Let's choose respect and compassion. The more we feel respect & compassion for ourselves, it can flow out of us to them. 8/

Got amazing feedback from a @manuscriptacademy.bsky.social thing I did - really smart feedback, hyped to dig in to revisions and polish things up. It’s very motivating.

Free speech isn’t free if politicians decide what can be said

“This is not a small-town squabble. It’s a breach of one of the most basic principles of American democracy: that a free press must be free from government interference.”

re: MAGA Rep. Sarah Vance
Editorial: Free speech isn’t free if politicians decide what can be said
From Homer to Washington, D.C., too many in power have forgotten that the First Amendment protects even speech that makes us uncomfortable.

How are the rest of you #amquerying writers coping with the nerves that set in? I'm running out of things to clean/organize, and I'm at the point in drafting my next book where I'm working on structural things which takes way more brains than nervous energy... #writersky #amwriting

As of October 16th, the QT request rate is down to 4.2%. Down four tenths of a percent since June.
QueryTracker request rate is down another tenth, to 4.3%.

#writingcommunity #amquerying
And now the QueryTracker request rate is down to 4.4%. That's a drop of .2% in under 8 weeks. If this rate continues we'll be at 0% by 2029.

That's me being facetious, of course. Somewhat facetious. At least 4.4% facetious.

I'll admit, I really enjoyed this one - the abrupt horror/thriller pivot delighted me. but I could see how it wouldn't speak to everyone.
The Writing Retreat by Julia Bartz

What a weird book 🤣

First half was really engaging suspense with the backdrop of a friendship that ended quickly

Second half became horror, action, adventure

Idk it’s not for me but if you like horror and weird surprises than you might love this book!
