If you have an alternative US president with whom we can negotiate market access, do please point him/her out.

Everything involving the White House must be handled with extreme care: Trump lies, Trump cheats. Ignoring the White House to maintain our spiritual purity tho isn't realistic, IMHO.

People are losing jobs now, businesses are trying to figure out their growth & investment plans now. Asking them to put their lives on hold for years or decades for some imagined future isn't realistic.

No one has suggested making peace with a bully. We're not negotiating peace: we're negotiating trade, services & money.

Pretending we're too dignified to talk to the White House idiots will enrich our egos but accomplish nothing.

No, this is gentle manipulation of a moronic bully. Sure, it would be emotionally fulfilling if Carney pulled out a baseball bat to beat the orange idiot senseless, but the goal is a trade deal, not a brief moment of smugness. Choose your battles, pick your moment, remember your goal.

In all though, it went well and I believe the dancers got their money's worth for the evening. Not my best calling, but pretty damn good considering the circumstances. And I've been approached to call some guest spots at a fly-in this November, and perhaps be on staff at the same event next year! 🎉

Last night, I called an Advanced-2 square dance. Kinda.

We were short one person to complete an extra square, so I used my wireless headset to call from the floor while dancing. I was planning to call extemporaneously most of the evening anyway, but this was an extra level of mental engagement.

Dad has been released from the hospital to home care, and my household has so far tested negative for covid. 🎉

Of course, we're all exposed now since we shared an enclosed minivan for hours. My covid shot was only Tues so it hasn't had time to be effective yet. No symptoms, but it's too early for that and too early for reliable test results yet so we're all in limbo.

Dad was treated & released from the hospital to home care today, and has a stack of follow-up appointments & tests in the coming days. He was scheduled to have a pacemaker installed next Thurs: that may be on hold now.

It has been a week, and it's not over yet.

The in-laws flew home from Europe Tues. We drove them home Wed, but 91yo Dad needed to get to a doctor to check some issues. A couple of hours later, the diagnosis: COVID *and* deep vein thrombosis in his left leg.
