If I learn from my mistakes, then I'm now a genius. Opinions are only valid when powered by critical thinking. Open minds, canoes and bicycles make me happy.
With all of the Black Friday adverts, I've lost track of exactly what Friday they're talking about. 🤔

Translation: Paris is great, largely because of its active transportation policies.
I've been there. I've seen it. It's real.

It's probably a good thing that the Blue Jays didn't win the World Series 💔. Canada avoided another reactionary tariff increase by the US.
(I'm looking for a silver lining here 🫣).

Imagine being someone who speeds a lot, knowing it can and does kill people… kids, parents, anyone.

Imagine hating a public policy (speed cameras) that’s proven to make those people safer— safer from YOU— because your law breaking costs u money, so you rant that it’s a “cash cow.”

So, is that you?
“The Ford Govt in Ontario has passed a controversial omnibus bill banning municipalities from installing speed cameras.

Ford says it will make the province more efficient & reduce red tape.

It won’t do either, and he knows it.

It might get him “speeder votes” though.

This will kill more people.

What you don't see in this photo:

Three parents who aren't stuck in a car.
Three parents who get their mornings back.

That's the invisible dividend of investing in infrastructure that provides safe, independent mobility for young people.

Another reminder that a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.

ALL ROAD USERS.

And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all.

For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them.

An adult driver angry at a child they hit with their car.

Our car culture summed up in one video.
Police in Airdrie, Alberta (just north of Calgary) say this driver hit a 17-year-old girl in a marked crosswalk, got out of the vehicle, and appeared to get upset at the teenager before driving away.

They released this video and are now trying to identify the driver.

Every year, billions of vehicles worldwide shed an estimated 6 million tonnes of tire fragments. These tiny flakes of plastic, generated by normal driving, account for 28% of microplastics entering the environment globally.

Heavy vehicles eg SUVs/EVs especially.

The US has an extremely high rate of gun related homicides but I can't say that I like where Canada sits in comparison with the other countries on this list either.
The U.S. leads the developed world in gun homicides. We know the fix: background checks, safe storage, permits, red flag laws, ban assault-style weapons & high-capacity magazines, violence prevention programs. Solutions exist—demand action now. #BlurSky #MedSky #NewsSky #NurseSky #EMSky #PedsSky

I like this advice. It's useful on many topics.
2️⃣ Don’t Engage with Bad Faith Arguments: For the most part, we shouldn’t spend precious time and energy engaging with bad faith arguments from people we won’t, and don’t need to, convince. Rather we should focus on articulating a positive, inclusive, liveable vision of the future to decision makers.
