I didn't really think about it until today that I do Data Engineering (ETLs, DWH), Data Science (Lift, LogReg, clustering), Data Analyst (reporting), Backend dev, dev for an in-house lib for Data Collection, and I could go on... all solo

I have gotten lost in the scope

However, as I'm sure people have heard, startups typically prey on the eager and willing, to take advantage of with lower salaries and more work.

I feel this is doubly true for functioning ASD people like myself, who gets way too invested in what I am working on.

I think I'm underpaid. I was talking to another data engineer, talking about what I do, and they only do 1/6 of what I listed

I keep falling into the trap of startups - a place that is busy in my favorite way, and allows me to do whatever I feel is good for the company with little-to-no supervision

data mining is such a scary word, but it's accurate. how do you take unrefined data and make it make sense? you mine it

I swear to god some of these corporate news outlets would open a window right now and say β€œWe can’t confirm it, but it appears that the ground is allegedly being snowed upon.”

I dislike the tertiary character. He's a bit of a square.

You should try Wonderful Toolchain as an alternative to DevKitPro!

I am halfway through my 6-part series on building a puzzle game with it. I choose Klotski (sliding rectangular block puzzle), which has its pros/cons

Pros:
Simple mechanics
1 entity type
Simple rectangle collision

Cons:
All the characters are straight

As much as I love touching hardware and registers, I have enjoyed using Butano, the asset-abstraction framework for GBA, for the last 2 years. I want other people to enjoy it too

But Furnace can't export GBA to a format I can currently support with MaxMod 😭
January 16, 2026 at 7:55 PM
It will support VGMs, which Furnace can export to

I am on my 6th detour though as the GBA asset-management library, Butano, can seemingly be ported to SDL to be compile Butano GBA games for any system...

the long term goal for 2026 is to port Butano to SDL so that your Butano GBA games can be played on PC, Switch, etc without an emulator
