Book cover, with the text ...And Out Come the Toys. A red and black centipede crawls around a man in a top hat holding a blue imp with an axe.

Elvis Presley was spotted at the Burger King in town years after he died.
*Does that count as a ghost story?

I had a few numbers memorized. Otherwise I had a million scrap pieces of paper in my wallet with numbers on them. And always quarters in my pocket...

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Just make sure to watch out for her!

I'm working on a slasher story, my first time writing something like this. But, it's me, so I can't help but come up with something goofy and cartoonish. Or have the killer be logical in anyway... but is any slasher logical?

Hahah!!! "Ooohhh you see that GILTR?" "Hell yeah, I did! I'd love to show that gourd my hale bales and corn stalks, you know. I think it would really compliment them and be the centerpiece to my fall display. It's a really lovely looking gourd."

I'm so ready for the next Special!!!
brandenburgdm.bsky.social
Hahah, exactly! I know they didn't read my little book, it's just super weird how ideas float around in the collective subconscious and a couple of people grab them at the same time.
brandenburgdm.bsky.social
Hahahah, it's crazy, right?! To see something and be like "wait a minute, I wrote this already!"
brandenburgdm.bsky.social
So, it's a little crazy to be watching VHS Halloween and see a scene that is almost exactly like a scene in And Out Come the Toys! Just change out the teddy bear making machine for a candy making one and, yeah, it's pretty close.

I've been wondering about this, too. How do studios not see the hate for him?
brandenburgdm.bsky.social
Nice!!!! This is the perfect combo!!! And, oh how the snes ages like that! That's how you know it's a good vintage!

Our family doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful. There’s a gale when dawn illuminates our world. The morning light arrives as though leached from my son’s eyes, his gaze cast skyward…

I've been thinking about this one for a bit. There's some fun folkloric stuff here in Michigan that I really dig. But...I think I prefer the made up, invented kind. Something about an author putting their fears or feelings into their own thing feels more real and raw to me.

Listen to the Symposium’s finest vocalist, as their tenor bends the living into unnatural angles and swivels them into the air! Tell us, what ghosts do you prefer? Of the folkloric tradition, or those invented by authors? And why?

Question Three

Art by Jelle Husson, featuring a haunted monastery of many sharp-tipped towers scraping at the midnight sky. The largest is in the centre of the structure’s roof, whose walls are painted white. The monastery is located above a hilly terrain of dark stone and dark green moss. A stony, twisting road leads to the monastery.

It is always a delight to see our violinists perform! How the living bend their splintering bones as they float above us all! Tell us, our ghostly compatriots – which of us are better? Of the folkloric kind? Or invented by our shadowy creators?

Hmm, I think I really like more modern haunts. We've seen plenty of gothic manors. Give me malls, office buildings, department stores. And, probably, my top choice: amusement parks! I love seeing something usually full of happiness and joy converted to creepiness and fear!

Now, let us begin! Let the flutes bleat and the trumps blare, snatching all the souls of the living away! What are your favourite haunts? Mausoleums? Lavish estates? What secrets do their wraiths protect within?

Ah, the performance has begun! Behold the souls of the living darting into the flutes and trumpets! Now, as you sip your ectoplasmic wine, tell us – what are your favourite locations for ghosts? And why?
