Early planning documents reviewed by WIRED describe a statewide transport grid designed for steady detainee transfers across Texas, with ICE estimating each trip to average 100 miles. Every county would have its own small, around-the-clock team of contractors collecting immigrants from local authorities deputized by ICE. It is a subtle transfer of the physical custody process into the hands of a private security firm—authorized to carry firearms and perform transport duties “in any and all local, county, state, and ICE locations.”

SUBJECT: Presidential Determination on Refugee Admissions
for Fiscal Year 2026
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the
laws of the United States, in accordance with section 207 of the
Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1157), and after appropriate
consultations with the Congress, I hereby make the following
determinations and authorize the following actions:
The admissions of up to 7,500 refugees to the United States during
Fiscal Year 2026 is justified by humanitarian concerns or is otherwise
in the national interest.
The admissions numbers shall primarily be allocated among Afrikaners
from South Africa pursuant to Executive Order 14204, and other victims
of illegal or unjust discrimination in their respective homelands.
Refugee admissions under this determination, which may reach but not
exceed the numerical limit described herein, are in all respects
subject to the requirements of other Presidential policies and
actions, whether issued prior or subsequent to this determination.
Those Presidential policies and actions include, but are not limited
to: Executive Order 14161, which mandates that refugees receive the
most stringent identification verification of any class of alien
seeking admission or entry to the United States; Executive Order
14163, which suspends the entry into the United States of refugees
other than when the Secretaries of State and Homeland Security jointly
determine that an admission is in the national interest and does not
threaten the security or welfare of the United States; Executive Order
14204, which provides for refugee resettlement of Afrikaners from
South Africa who are victims of unjust racial discrimination; and

You’re not going to win the war with software and A.I. It can increase your lethality. At the end of the day, you’re going to have to be able to build things. You’re going to need mass that you can bring to a fight that drives deterrence.

The analogy I would give you is World War II. The Germans were far better engineers than the Americans. They had really exquisite technology. They just couldn’t build it at any sort of scale. They could build one-off little things here or there.

What did we have? We had just incredible manufacturing capability. It even brought awe to Stalin. He couldn’t believe what we were capable of doing. Our things were less sophisticated, but quantity is a quality of its own.

If you look at the present moment, you might say, that sounds an awful lot like our adversary — so we need a high-low mix. And I think part of this is we have to be able to build these things here again with speed. That’s what the new entrants are really bringing.

I don’t think most people recognize that Gulf War I was a watershed moment for the Chinese. They could not believe how quickly the Americans rolled over the fourth-largest army in the world. Since that happened, they have been systematically investing in countering the key capabilities that enable us to do that, whether it’s in space, whether it’s our Navy.

The only question for me is whether or not Planter knew it was a Totenkopf before last week. I didn't recognize it as a Nazi symbol, so I'm willing to believe he didn't either. But if he knew what it was before last week and chose not to cover it then I find that to be disqualifying.
