Canadian having fun researching ancestry in Border country of Scotland for excuse to visit there. Love volunteering for nonprofit @victoriags.org because of all the assistance #genealogy helpers have given me over the years and I am a terrible gardener!

My dear friend and colleague Robert Charles Anderson passed away yesterday. Bob was the finest scholar in the field of #Genealogy I had ever known. A library of knowledge is now gone, yet preserved in his scholarship with @americanancestors.bsky.social He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Family Day today in fantastic #BC #Canada so Grampa was busy. Great day. I must label this photo well eh #genealogy friends?

Found a copy of the Ottawa Citizen from Feb 15, 1965 in my parent’s basement with Queen Elizabeth II proclaiming “a red flag of the proportions two by length and one by width, retaining in its centre a white square the width of the flag, bearing a single red maple leaf” to be Canada’s National Flag

🚨Cover reveal!🚨

Paris is the City of Love, so it’s kind of perfect unveiling this beautiful new cover on Valentine’s Day, right? 💋

Say “oui” to a story about archives, family secrets, a charming but infuriating Frenchman, and fun and frivolity in Paris! Coming March 18 from She Rises Studios.
Great speaker for #norway #scandinavian #genealogy workshop
Hi Everyone. If you are trying to research your Norwegian roots you should find out how the Victoria Genealogical Society can help you. (Lefse anyone?)
one fun time wss free tickets for various draw prize boxes. prizes were like our society coffee cup mouse pad memory stick etc.
good point about community calendars. snd yes, a bigger event like a local history, heritage and famiky history fair. thanks for brainstorming.
my local society hosts a couple of open houses a year but we never put a concerted effort into getting media coverage. so the word doesn't get out well. usually attended by existing members only. how to make us interesting to journalists and easy to write about? make a media kit? what's that?
This #genealogy workshop should be on everyone's 'to take' list. thanks for developing it @makingfamilyhistory.com See you there!
I'm excited to offer 'Excel for Family Archivists' on Feb 22 - one of my favourite topics! If you have a hard time keeping track of the photos, documents, and heirlooms you hold for your extended family, this workshop will help you preserve them (and your sanity!).

Had a great conversation today with a public historian about how #genealogy can be used to document local history... and the ways we can make genealogy resources more accessible. Options included helping libraries establish FamilySearch affiliate status.
