I wrote about a striking new assessment of energy/emissions from indoor cannabis grows, which have ~tripled~ since 2012. 🧪
The first 19 days of 2025 were on average +1.74°C above pre-industrial.
That's about 0.1°C warmer than the same period last year. Then we had an El Niño, now a La Niña.
Most of this is because of energy efficiency: Without it industry energy consumption would be 37% higher today compared to 2000.
It's not because of deindustrialisation: Industrial activity in 2023 was much higher than in 2000.
It's wind, solar and geothermal.
