Trey Yesavage struck out 12 batters and walked none in seven innings of one-run ball in Game 5 of the freakin' World Series.

He also generated 23 whiffs tonight, the most by any pitcher in the World Series in the pitch-tracking era (since 2008).

Here are his dozen strikeouts against the Dodgers.

The #BlueJays might just be getting started.

More on star outfielder Kyle Tucker, who drove over to Dunedin today for a visit:

Emilio Pagan is headed back to the Reds on a two-year, $20 million deal, per source. The deal, which is pending physical, includes an opt-out after 2026.

Interesting. The Rays needed a quality everyday outfielder but didn’t think they’d sign someone like Mullins.

That Mets stint was rough, but he still seems like a solid bet for a 2-ish WAR season.

This Marlins group looks dangerously close to being a legit Wild Card contender.

Add someone like Bader/Yastrzemski to play RF, O'Hearn/Arraez to play 1B and a pair of good relievers (Fairbanks, Weaver, Finnegan, Pagán, etc.) and Miami could have real playoff aspirations.

From Ken Rosenthal at The Athletic:

“The interest in right-hander Freddy Peralta is so significant, the Milwaukee Brewers are now considering “cracking the door open” for trade discussions, according to a person briefed on their situation.”

What I’m hearing about the Reds’ interest in Kyle Schwarber and more MLB offseason notes
The Phillies will almost certainly offer the slugger more money to return, but his hometown team is serious about getting him back to Cincy.

Cody Ponce has signed a three-year deal worth $30 million with the Blue Jays, according to Ken Rosenthal and Jeff Passan.

Toronto is seriously beefing up their rotation.

Huh. Guess the Angels rotation is all set now.

Yusei Kikuchi
José Soriano
Reid Detmers
Grayson Rodriguez
Alek Manoah

With Caden Dana, Sam Aldegheri, Mitch Farris, Jack Kochanowicz and George Klassen as depth options.

That is certainly an intriguing rotation with a LOT of variance.
@JeffPassan tweeted
Right-hander Alek Manoah and the Los Angeles Angels are in agreement on a one-year, $1.95 million contract, a source tells ESPN. Manoah, 27, was non-tendered by Atlanta and lands with the Angels on a fully guaranteed big league deal.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan and Kiley McDaniel ranked the top 25 offseason trade candidates and there’s a whole lot of interesting stuff in here.

Perhaps the biggest one: Byron Buxton is willing to waive his no-trade clause.

Speaking to the Boston Globe's Alex Speier, Royals president of baseball operations J.J. Picollo said that the club wants to move a SP and that Cole Ragans isn't off limits, although he unsurprisingly said it'd have to be a really big return.

A Ragans trade feels unlikely but that'd be a fun one.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Mets are in the mix for Kyle Schwarber.

This feels like a strategic move for the Mets to drive up Schwarber’s price tag for the Phillies + gain leverage with Pete Alonso but this is nonetheless an intriguing rumor.

The Braves are a good bet to bounce back in 2026 but my goodness, does that team need a shortstop.

Unfortunately, there aren’t a ton of quality available shortstops.

Maybe sign Bichette and let him handle SS until Albies hits free agency after ‘27? Possibly run it back with Ha-Seong Kim?

Jeff Passan is reporting that the Orioles are signing Ryan Helsley to a two-year deal with an opt-out after the first season.

Went to the Riverside Art Museum and The Cheech earlier today for the first time.

The new “60 Miles East” exhibition drew me there and obviously ruled but there’s so much more to see, too.

The “Black and Brown in the I.E. and Beyond” exhibition is fascinating and especially timely in 2025 America.
