The trailblazing transgender rights activist Miss Major has passed away at the age of 78.

Miss Major was a lifelong organizer and participant in the ballroom scene. She took part in the 1969 Stonewall Riots and was injured by the police — but she kept fighting.

I'm from Galway and will be voting for Catherine Connolly in #áras25 I campaigned with her *against* the Lisbon treaty & for Marriage Equality & Repeal, I was there the day she lost a dail seat by 17 votes after which she brought us all out for breakfast and apologised for letting us down!

Not only are these data centres devouring energy & water – and feeding the AI bubble that'll blow up our economy when it bursts – they're also wasting vast construction resources (human, materials & admin) that could instead be building homes, solar farms, wind farms etc.

Urg. Yes, gender recognition is a sensitive matter, bearing on personal dignity and privacy. But no, it's not "complex": and to claim that it is, is primarily a strategy to seed exclusion. #HeatherHumphries should know much, much better than to parrot such a divisive talking point.

I do feel if we were in a war with another country, Connolly would be the Ellen Ripley type, Gavin would be the soldier who ends up panicking, and Humphreys would be the corporate member who wants to capture the alien for her corporation.
