The University of Alabama on Monday suspended two student magazines — one appealing to women, another to Black students — saying they ran afoul of guidance from the Justice Department on DEI programs.
U. of Alabama Suspends Black and Female Student Magazines, Citing D.E.I. Guidance
Officials told staff members at two student-run publications, called Nineteen Fifty-Six and Alice, that they were not compliant with Attorney General Pam Bondi’s memo on diversity programs.

Atlanta’s Carlos Museum presents ‘Continuum,’ a celebration of Muscogee art
Gallery wall featuring a map connecting Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and Ocmulgee, Georgia, alongside framed artworks and Harjo’s audio station. (Image by Mike Jensen) Atlanta has a bad habit of starting its history around the Civil War. That's not an accusation — it's an observation from Miranda Kyle, curator of Indigenous Arts of the Americas at Emory's Michael C. Carlos Museum. And it's the engine behind "Continuum," the museum's current exhibition featuring more than 20 works by Muscogee (Creek) Nation artists Johnnie Diacon and Hotvlkuce Harjo. Kyle is careful with her language.

Great clothing stores are surprising and satisfying and, above all else, keep alive the thrill of in-person shopping in this age of e-commerce. The New York Times traveled across the U.S. to compile a list of the 50 best stores in America. See the full list.

Ginny Di makes an excellent underrepresented point here in that the secondary damage caused by AI is that so many artists have to defend our own work as organic now. I had to put out a statement that BLACK PHONE 2 contained no AI because assholes decided to accuse us of using it and no other reason.
I love paying human artists and I hate gen AI 🩵

I'm not here to fight about whether or not AI is ethical (I've made my decision and I doubt I'm gonna change yours.) I'm just here to talk about what I and many other artists have been dealing with as we adjust to a new media landscape.

Maybe the grossest possible Thanksgiving marketing gimmick?
Jones Green Bean Casserole Soda (2004-2004): A sickly green soda made to taste like the divisive Thanksgiving side dish, with notes of earthy green beans, fried onions, and cream of mushroom soup. Sold as part of a novelty holiday-themed pack of sodas.
