Not surprised that the Muslim COO concluded that her position was untenable when her colleagues stood back and let him say that.

True, so true. It's the traditional way to learn to make art.

i know it's not caturday but…

i took this with the spiratone portragon 100m f4, a bizarre and totally underrated little (as in very little) lens. it's so compact bc it's a single-element lens. basically a metal tube with 1 piece of glass at the end.

It was messing about with this one image that spawned the vintage-cinema/Brothers Quay informed, monochrome Pine Pitch Black version of Maskwitches we made. I found it to be a quite startling transformation, and the whole idea was right there.

I get easily bored, but images interest me always.

The Planets and Nebulae Backdrops Book works really well for fantastical night skies as well as spaceships and robots.

Very sad news about Drew Struzan’s passing. It might seem a silly and simple thing, but it was always massively inspiring to see his work and just know it was clever and well made? And to know a person “just” painted that.

Maskwitches of Forgotten Doggerland is the ENnie-nominated storytelling game of the psychedelic Mesolithic. Honestly, if that sounds bad, we can't sell you on it.

Puppets, sets, smoke, 3d printed pony skulls, Maskwitches has the lot.

The Oatmeal on AI art. "When I consume Al art, it also evokes a feeling ... until I find out that it's Al art. Then I feel deflated, grossed out, and maybe a little bit bored. This feeling isn't a choice"

I couldn't do LoR either, which was weird because I was a big reader as a kid. My brother loved it.

"Israel Replaces Fatah Prisoners on Gaza Deal Release List With Convicted Hamas Killers

Though the list was already approved by ministers, a cabinet vote passed to replace the Fatah members, most of whom were not involved with fatal attacks, with convicted terrorists.
There's something else going on with opera, for sure.
The opposite can also happen. I first read Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island my 20's, and I remember struggling with how clichéd RLS's pirates felt, while at the same time trying to consciously keep in mind that the cultural reference originated with RSL
Strong Lavrentiy Beria vibe here.

TBH, the clothes

But the Restoration is a really vibrant and interesting period that IMO is underutilized in fiction. A lot of interesting things are happening re: gender, early Enlightenment, liberalism, more—and modern problems that will be handed down to us are forming and becoming entrenched.
