Big Fact like Big Pharna and Big Ag always lies about the harm it’s doing you.
Trump shamelessly lies: "Go to Walmart and other companies, and in every case it's about 25% that a Thanksgiving meal and surroundings are 25% lower. That's big fact."

It’s so hard to get polio these days. Can I interest you in some infant botulism instead?
Congress’s shutdown deal eliminated key food safety rules, blocking agencies from enforcing measures to prevent contamination and trace outbreaks. This rollback has coincided with a surge in hospitalizations and deaths from foodborne illnesses.
Shutdown Deal Kills Rules to Prevent Food Contamination and Foodborne Illnesses
The gutting of these rules coincides with a huge increase in hospitalizations and deaths from foodborne illnesses.

Oops-meant “get,” altho
being het is a definite +
All you have to do to het a director’s job is answer the following questions correctly:
1. Who won the 2020 election?
2. What is the significance of the Great Barrington Declaration?
3. How groovy is Jay?
NIH is ramping up efforts to fill a huge slate of vacant leadership positions.

Onlookers worry the process is being rushed and will depart, as it already has in one case, from the long-standing practice of drawing on advice from academic scientists to find candidates. https://scim.ag/47HraVv

Is NIH cutting corners as it rushes to fill leadership positions?
Unlike in the past, agency searches appear to exclude help from outside academic researchers

I am so sure current CDC and NIH leaders can handle this. Just exercise and eat right.

I thought the earlier news from A&M was bad, but this is incredibly bleak. It’s close to the point of not having a functional university.
Message to all faculty: your expertise is no longer trusted or valued at this so-called “university.”

I seem to remember another pathogen w/ pandemic potential that was first recognized in Washington . . .
🚨 HEADS UP

Washington State has reported a suspected human H5N1 case with no cattle exposure likely bird-linked (or from contaminated milk).

The patient is severely ill in hospital.

Clade pending (D1 vs B3). CDC confirmation awaited.

If confirmed, it will be Washington’s first H5N1 case of 2025.

in honor of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, here's @mcsweeneys.net absolutely ROASTING my senator @kaine.senate.gov to the point that he is, indeed, a turkey
"Here’s the kicker: We even got them to agree not to pass the healthcare subsidies that we’ve been working for. You know, the ones average Americans rely on. Here’s how we did it: We asked, then they said, 'No way,' and then we said, 'Okay.' That’s how you win."

What Rosalind Franklin truly contributed to the discovery of DNA’s structure
Franklin was no victim in how the DNA double helix was solved. An overlooked letter and an unpublished news article, both written in 1953, reveal that she was an equal player.
