Cool sounds from living creatures? Bears huffing; ravens crackling; and raccoons chirring (the last one I heard tonight).

For those in it/ How do you think about the experience of this intense heatwave? For me, it feels like I’m waiting, a bit claustrophobic.

Who else feels like the Liberal government is taking full advantage of the fear of Trump to push through Trump-lite policies?

My current cosseted existence as a visiting scholar in Italy means that each afternoon, I work in an old palazzo, while buskers sing opera and horses clip clop down the street outside my window. Weird.

Protests irritate those in power, who seek to contain and shrink the spaces, and expressions of dissent. We must stop this City bylaw, limiting the location of protest, when it is clear what is being debated. shorturl.at/NLeAk

Trump wants “Viewpoint Diversity” at @harvard.edu . Does this mean poorly researched findings are just as valuable as well researched ones? Yeesh

As it became clear that the State Department and ICE were targeting students for their lawful political speech, our dean worked with university leadership and our clinical program to establish a rapid response project for students threatened with detention or deportation.

It’s one of those sunbeam on skin; smell of road salt kind of days.

Let me just say, Canadians are paying attention/freaking out. We can hopefully use the moment to promote a vision of internationalism and a model of care for all our relations.
I just heard this as well. The entire staff of the National Center for Education Statistics, created in 1867, has been fired.

#Trumpnausea is a thing

We know that creating uncertainty is a power move. But some things remain certain. we must take care of one another and all our relations.

As a supervisor of graduate students, today I was reminded of how anxiety can be the enemy of curiosity.

One of the big questions with coups is who the military sides with. It's a big question now. Does the firing of a whole lot of leadership make the military now more malleable, or does it anger and alienate a lot of people down the chain of command? www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

A mensch. RIP Michael Burawoy
I will always remember him as the 1st professor to show up at the barricades & the last to leave whenever there was a student protest on campus. Here he is on the steps of Wheeler Hall lecturing on Foucault as students chained themselves to the roof protesting austerity. 📸 @zunguzungu.bsky.social
