this is way way more significant to the literacy crisis than anyone is talking about and I bet you could demonstrate it empirically
I gave close feedback to a friend on a persuasive essay for a college "try not to suck at writing" class and was shocked when he told me that they never got anything so granular or useful when I *thought* what I was doing was pretty basic. What's going on? Not a rhetorical question, actually curious

there were no personal experiences appealed to, just a worldview. there was also basically no reference to the readings.
it's possible there were other responses this bad that didn't get as bad a grade! I haven't seen any interest in even *investigating* this from any parties involved

yes I can imagine it, I was there for Trump1. everyone not already primed to agree with them would freak out about how he's being persecuted by the media and signifiers would split on a weekly basis. we need some way to talk about stuff as objectively clear as now but it's obv what they're avoiding
