since people are doing new intro posts here's another "random" sample of my current writing. I hope people pay as much attention to it as my Posts - you can read two ongoing novels (the first two samples) here andataexpress.neocities.org/holohaus
*this* is a generalization and possibly the single most dangerous one I see people making all the time. there is no "everyone", there is no "gets to". you're just picking a fight with a crowd, which is fine if you're up for it.
Who robbed the Louvre? Right answers only.

Pumpkinfest today in Waterford!
the liberal vs. conservative TLP interpretation war is at least as important as like, Straussians
do you think Dave Sim and Tatsuya Ishida could have healed each other

with their bodies
between Beastars and Sanda she has genuinely the most empathetic portrayals of specifically the dimensions of male adolescence that are supposed to be too terrifying to empathize with I've ever read, placed in a completely lucid ethical framework
has anyone in the "how to fix boys" discourse suggested a massive campaign to popularize the works of Paru Itagaki
people (especially kids) like in-jokes that aren't for them bc they give you the feeling of being in on something and you can usually reconstruct a lot of what it is from the joke
Animaniacs is so sick. I had like no reason to understand any of the LA specific industry jokes but I was like "hell yeah"

insane bonkers batshit mad that this hasnt made UK news. this is huge.
i think americans find it very hard to understand how irreligious the uk is. for reference, the global communion headed by our state church – the third largest on earth after catholicism and eastern orthodoxy – schismed in HALF yesterday. this has not made the uk news
and I'd bet money if this went viral enough, a bunch of straight people (who use dating apps) would pile on like "ewww nobody would go to this autistic bar, the ambiguity is the fun part". all the shitty things about dating apps are psychic downpayments for being that honest about desire
in Triton there are bars where "looking for a date/hookup" and "not looking for a date/hookup" are different sides of the bar, plus there's things you can wear (explained and labelled at the bar) to indicate what kind of thing you're looking for. app monopoly depends on nobody building this
hence why someone like Samuel R. Delany assumed that straight culture would eventually get its own version of cruising spaces, bathhouses, etc. the problem is right as this became culturally possible, physical urban space got enclosed and sanitized, while private digital ones sprung up to replace it
ofc more ambiguous spaces can teach you social skills that are useful even in more explicit ones, and there are situations in other social groups where you can just catch feelings bc it's a thing humans do sometimes, even if you're explicitly *not* supposed to (the original context of "romance"!)

the thing is if you remove the specific object level of "apps" this is a directionally correct movement for Ask Culture and a consent ethic – "explicitly sign up" solves the meta-level problem of "knowing when it's acceptable to proposition" which was formerly left to a patchwork of vague kludges
the weirdest part of the rise of online dating is that it has created a large set of people who view romantic interactions occurring in any context other than explicitly “i signed up to look for a romantic partner” to be weird and creepy *inherently*, because dating is contained to the Apps.
"it wasn't just numbers, it was disruptive" yes it also wasn't just "disruptive" in the sense of breaking a Starbucks window, there were specific unjust laws that could be broken en masse forcing the State to decide whether to enforce them or not. Trump and ICE just do random incoherent shit anyway
the No Kings/Civil Rights discourse is interesting bc it all elides that 1) the Civil Rights movement is the main source of both left and liberal ideas of what effective protest looks like 2) it was effective bc of specific historical circumstances almost no mvmt inspired by it has had

listen, centrist libs might not like it, but if the Demcorats get back to office and stack the court, they need to fill it with the most annoying 25yo non-binary polyamorous leftist grad students they can find. basically the left foil to the contemporary GOP groyper-staffer.

Schmittianism eats political philosophy in the same way poptimism eats aesthetic philosophy. trivially true but thought terminating, *before* the point demanded by power or pleasure
regardless of whether they were or happened in this particular case, which I'm not making a claim about.
I doubt he'd disagree, in fact I'd bet that's part of why he believes it's essential to maintain that the times these things happened in history were bad?
