My correct advice on how to date beautiful women is unchanged from what I told my fraternity brothers eighteen years ago:

Be engaging, kind, polite, and talented — but most importantly, talk with actual women like they’re people worthy of your time (they are!). Don’t waste yourself in fantasy land.

First, happy birthday!

Second, as I was once told: you just spent a decade walking into new spaces hoping people liked you. Enjoy your 30s of walking into new spaces hoping instead you find people you like.

I might have to get to a theater before the end of the month here...how would you rank the film re: appropriate for a 13 year-old?

Lecture recital-style format where you explain the advantages of each before the performance, say you’re inserting an extra repeat solely so the audience can make their own informed decision about it, and then you get to play both?

Newgrounds has a very helpful guide for detecting AI audio over at www.newgrounds.com/wiki/help-in... for anyone interested in catching AI-generated music. Don't rely on any service that uses AI for detection, that's just using slop to find slop and you'll get false positives/missed catches.

If I printed posts for my office door, this is the one. New motto for the remainder of 2025.

I’m back to the Cities next month and this is useful, thanks.

were this me I would be insufferably pumped about it to Addie and be unassailable as a result haha

Been thinking on how much I enjoy the Patreon model of supporting folks.

I've never met Mark Brown / @gamemakerstoolkit.com in person (he's been both kind and informed as you'd expect in messages here and there), but I enjoy that I can be a super small part of helping him and others make a career.

I have a difficult time seeing how they expand it; regardless of our differing opinion re: the very end, I suspect we agree the narrative _closes_ haha.

I reviewed Tim Summers’ Ocarina of Time book — it is a tremendous resource for anyone looking to model future book-length case studies — and @sarahpcphd.bsky.social’s nostalgia-themed edited collection on the left is also excellent.

Some musical new additions to our shelves thanks to the amazing folks over at @intellectbooks.bsky.social 🙏 💙

For all you #Ludomusicology fans out there, be sure to check out this “Studies in Game Sound and Music” series. 🎶 📚

A series of five books related to video game music that are sitting on top of a wooden table. The first one is called nostalgia and video game music and the cover resembles a red game boy the second is called the music of Nobuo Uematsu in the Final Fantasy series, the third book is called analyzing NES music. The fourth book is called. The legend of Zelda ocarina of Time and the final book is called gender, race, and religion in video game

Amazing stir fry for supper tonight. Lucky for me that Addie is pretty darn great!

this would have been a fascinating class demo to augment our discussion omg hahaha

Uffda, all this sounds awful (I poked around in the quoted thread as well). I have a few books from the publisher and the quality has absolutely been there in the past -- no idea how all this happens. :(

Uffda. This needs a kringla and a coffee immediately, the cure for all generational wounds…

Incredible concert yesterday hearing @thelongestjohns.bsky.social and @homefreeguys.bsky.social.

I could not believe the second encore when the entire crowd sang the chorus in multiple parts (and well) alongside the unamplified performers — a gift of a moment for everyone in the theater.

Not having internet access is a plus for the Analogue Pocket for sure, and I think (?) I have you to thank for recommending the Teenage Engineering Mega Man synth, which is also single-purpose (and a delight).

I respectfully submit Straight Outta Lynwood by Weird Al.

I want to push back gently to this; when we found out kiddo two was also going to be a boy (which we did privately;gender reveal parties are weird) there were a few moments of mourning the idea we’ll never have a daughter.

We were simultaneously happy to have a second boy to love! Complex feelings.

Live on the turn of the hour in five minutes, friends! We're hanging out and looking at Monument Valley III as we take a break from a run of GOTY candidates (so many in 2025 haha).
