It would be kinda funny to pass the transit-oriented development bill and then not fund transit

Rumor is that Gavin Newsom is wavering on housing and might veto SB 79. If you live in California, please reach out to the governor’s office today: cayimby.org/call-sb-79/

Still need Gavin to sign but I assume that won't be an issue? I never can understand what's going on in that guy's head though

Cortese voted yes, and the vote only has a margin of one right now so basically... you're welcome 😎

Just called Cortese’s office, he’s usually pretty good on transit issues so I think he should be gettable here. Other South Bay ppl should do the same!

Fair enough, I haven't paid attention to his record on housing. Hopefully he can come around on this one

SB 79 is up in the Assembly!

My hope for CAHSR has always been that the initial Central Valley segment gets opened and sunk cost fallacy gets the rest of the system built
backdoorplz.bsky.social
Hell yea CAHSR got its $1B yearly commitment from cap&trade confirmed: hsr.ca.gov/2025/09/10/s...

Not enough to fund the project ofc, in fact it doesn't even outpace the rate of inflation, but it will keep the project muddling along until the IOS is opened at least

SB 79, our transit oriented development bill, will be coming up for a vote in the legislature sometime in the next 72 hours. Calling your state legislator and asking them to support the bill makes a real difference and WILL help it pass. Use our simple tool to find their contact info:

SB 79 (Wiener) could be heard on the Assembly floor today!

NIMBYs are calling and potting against SB 79.

Don't let them speak for you - please call and ask your Assemblymember to vote AYE on SB 79, and ask your friends, family, and frenemies to do likewise.

I just finished my Paralegal Certificate at UCSC Silicon Valley Extension!

I’m now looking for entry-level legal roles (paralegal, legal assistant, case clerk) in the Bay Area. Any leads or suggestions for good firms would be appreciated!

Come out to the Emergency Rally To Save Bay Area Transit Monday at 9am to help Governor Newsom get the message and fulfill his promise to save our communities' transit service! actionnetwork.org/events/emerg...

But I really don't understand why this has become an issue. What's changed since July that Gavin would change his mind on this?

Without this promised emergency loan from the state, millions of people in the Bay Area will suffer due to the steep cuts to transit service, the worsening traffic, and the rise in pollution.

We need to turn out in big numbers Monday morning & get loud

Man if even the most basic stopgap funding measures are getting screwed over like this, I’m really not liking the long-term outlook for Bay Area transit

We’ve been informed by the Governor’s Department of Finance that it won’t agree before our legislative session ends (on Friday) to finalize a $750M bridge loan to Bay Area transit.

This loan was agreed to in our June budget. Without it, BART, Muni, et al will cut service.🧵
