LET'S CHANGE THE SUBJECT.
now i think about it, how did you keep eating? did you . . . hunt? what about water?
that was . . . junobot's job, right? junobot seems to control a lot about your life.

let's change the subject.
you're telling me urfmen aren't born with that feature built-in?
you must have had parents, or progenitors of some kind. what's your earliest memory?

never mind that. where'd i learn to walk & talk?
that's impressive. but if it was just you here, where did you learn to code?
Like a bottle of wine or something?
i'm matured.
Okay!
Then, you're definitely old!
Then, you're definitely old!
let's say i'm past middle age and leave it at that then.
Oh, definitely not rare! But they... uh... point is, their life cycles aren't long. So they're older sooner.
i don't know anything about these hew mans. are they a rare species?
i salvaged him, patched his motherboard back together & reprogrammed him. he was the first time i wasn't alone.
. . . you didn't build junobot, you mean? i thought--
well, he just talks so *positively* of you . . .

there was nothing to explore. the world was big but the storm was always so close, and we could never push past it, so the world may as well have been one room. one big sandy room.
once every few months, maybe, the storm would get thin, and i could see further, but there was nothing to see.

you really didn't explore much, did you? why not?
well . . . no, i'll let juno explain all of that.
is there anything you think you could do? for others, i mean? that you're . . . good at?

i get around, yeah.
you uh, here for the plants?
you uh, here for the plants?
i don't care about that. i know you from somewhere, right?
sorry this is a staff only area so we're allowed to like, swear or whatever you think you heard.
i'd know that screaming anywhere . . .
repair work? hmm.
noted.
urf? caps? all i had was sand.

no, but really. you had caps on urf, didn't you? it's a lot like that.
well, i do all kinds of things. i've done mercenary work. some security work, rarely. transport's quick and easy, but pays dirt cheap. mostly i do repair work. that pays well and i enjoy it.

odd jobs like what?
( she doesn't seem to quite believe him. )
junobot can dig really big holes.

i wouldn't say my cooking is anything incredible. you just haven't seen how good everyone else is yet.
well, you're in luck. it's not as though i'm flat broke. i learned the hard way the importance of savings.
*but* we will have to start thinking about picking up some odd jobs, soon enough.
