Two colour comic covers: Vox Machina Origins #2, showing a shenanigany scene with Grog, Scanlan, and a big frog; and Crystal Heart, showing a group of roleplayers around a table with their game world and characters behind them. Two unconnected pages from Crystal Heart, a graphic novel about roleplaying games. The first page shows the beautiful jungle city of Zingama with the heroes walking into it for the first time, and the second shows an intense scene towards the end of the last chapter, along with some round-the-table chatter. The first is from Critical Role: Tales of Exandria II – Artagan (written by Sam Maggs, with colour by Cris Peter and letters by Ariana Maher), and shows 5 panels of Artagan trying to do finger-snap magic and getting more and more irritated. The second is an intense scene from Midst - The Valorous Farmer (written by Jasmine Wells, with colours by Quinton Winter and letters by Jim Campbell), showing the protagonist being assailed by shards of mica from above. Some fantasy character busts from Penny Arcade's Acquisitions Incorporated D&D book; full body character illustrations of their "Seattle by Night" season 2 characters; and a cartoony version of my husband's tiefling from our Zeitgeist home campaign.

A knight on a white horse, setting out to find a dragon in a mountainous wild wasteland, has just encountered the dragon’s aunt. She is MASSIVE, half pompous matron and half dragon, decked with curls, pearls, and feathers (or are they horsetails?) with a long scaly tail stretching back into the mountains, and a formidable gold lorgnette, through which she examines the knight. She does not approve. The Rose Queen, in a grand rose gown, is surrounded by her court of elegant bee attendants in a spacious pavilion decked with roses. The bee courtiers are all vying for her attention. The New Galatea, a grand lady of marble, is carving herself out of a large marble block, in a baroque ruin. She’s given herself an outrageously elaborate marble gown and hairstyle, because she can. A joyful zebra, that is also a knight, ON FIRE, with stripes and tail turning to flames, garbed in a golden helmet with plumes that also turn to flames, rearing up and holding a striped lance that is also on fire, setting out on an adventure across sunny mountains, along a road leading to a golden castle. A little fire salamander friend tags along.

Unbelievable that SDCC is going to allow AI-generated artwork in its art show.

“The art show fills up fast” it says, but taking away space from actual artists to feature slop is ok?

I hope they change their policy on this, but as it stands, it’s a slap in the face to real human artists.

Comic-con deciding to allow GenAi imagery in the art show —giving valuable space to GenAi users to show slop right NEXT to actual artists who worked their asses off to be there— is a disgrace!

A tone deaf decision that rewards and normalizes exploitative GenAi against artists in their own spaces!

Everything is horrible and this website is definitely a distillation of that horribleness -- which is probably good in some way because we need a place where we can talk about and show what's happening! Still, some deep breath break is needed, so, what can I do? I can post DOGS. Here there be dogs.
