You can't separate the art from the artist when they're still alive because they're still benefiting from the financial leverage, access to platform and power through influence that art provides.

Supporting abusive artists makes you an accomplice to harm.

How strictly do your characters follow their traditions?

#TamLin values the traditions of nobility & rank

The fairy folk follow their traditions/rules meticulously

Janet on the other hand does what keeps her safe. Traditions be damned

NEW: Israel informed the UN it will permit only 300 aid trucks into Gaza daily, not the 600 mandated by the ceasefire it just signed.

What exactly is the rationale for keeping the remaining "non-fighters" being held in "administrative detention without trial"? Is it for future bargaining? If so, how is that any different from a hostage?

www.theguardian.com/world/2025/o...
The prisoners and detainees were released by Israel a few hours after all living Israeli hostages were returned from Gaza. The exchange marked the first step in a ceasefire that could permanently end the two-year conflict in the territory.

Before Monday’s release, 11,056 Palestinians were held in Israeli prisons, according to statistics from the Israeli NGO HaMoked in October 2025. At least 3,500 of those were held in administrative detention without trial. An Israeli military database has indicated that only a quarter of those detained in Gaza were classified as fighters.

So the sources, which have come under question for bias in its reporting don't even support your claim. Nice whataboutism to ignore the Israeli violations of the current ceasefires and past ceasefires. 🤷
authorvcwillow.bsky.social
Palestinians have the right to defend themselves from an occupying force that's committing a genocide against them and trying to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from their native land.

Israel violating the ceasefire agreement at least 9 times sure doesn't look Israel disarming.
nicholasgrossman.bsky.social
Hamas gathering forces and working to reassert control sure doesn’t look like Hamas disarming and accepting an international security force in charge of Gaza.

Weren’t we told to gush with praise for the brilliant diplomacy that solved the big problems? Could’ve sworn that, it was just this week.

Clashes have already taken place between the group and an armed clan in Gaza City.

This makes no sense.
1. Brexit is at least two things: Being out of the EU and being out of the Single Market.
2. Both of these can be reversed.
3. To blame a reversible problem for your harmful economic decisions, while still refusing to reverse that problem, is the behaviour of a fool.

In a surprise to no one, Israeli has recommenced it's genocide of Palestinian citizens, despite a 'ceasefire' being agreed and hostages being returned.

Israel is the very definition of a bad faith actor, they have repeatedly broken ceasefire and peace agreements.

Keep protesting. Free Palestine

People who opposes taxes are people who don't realize they're already benefiting from us acting collectively at scale.

Mostly dudes who can't conceive of their own disabled future and think that roads are facts of life instead of major ongoing human projects.
broadwaybabyto.bsky.social
Yes your taxes should support disabled people.

They should support homeless people.

They should support those living in poverty, children and the elderly.

This is literally the purpose of taxes, and I would far rather support those who need it than continue to enrich the elite.

Everything is run by taxes. Like, literally - the country runs on taxes. You cannot throw a rock anywhere here without hitting something paid for, or heavily subsidised by, taxes.

Roads. Schools. The admin building where you get your documents after you move. Trash cans. Public transit.

Writing novels is very hard, and everyone who finishes writing one deserves praise and accolades purely for that accomplishment.

If a book happens, you've found a successful writing strategy. There's no magic formula for writing a book. No one, sure-fire way to get a book finished. Like every creative you'll find the way that works for you. When you do cling to it zealously and with joy

Me, writing: Where is this book going???

Good to know I still have no idea how to write a book other than sit down and write and eventually a book happens, lol.

Talk about a book that surprised you: how was it not what you expected?

Orbital by Samantha Harvey was a slim book but it took me by surprise how lyrical the prose was and how the detail made it a book to be slowly digested.

Even the messy, dystopia world seems more ordered than the world we currently live in. The worlds we create can be carved and altered by our hands, guided in the right direction. I like my fantasy worlds, they feel like they're more ordered and pleasing. Stop reality, I want to live in a novel!

Are you motivated to write by internal drive or external goals?

I'm compelled to write, to express my creativity, to speak my heart and get words on the page. It sounds very arty farty but writing is a release for me, a pleasure.

Do you prefer to use real-world settings or to invent new ones?

In my Fantasy novels they tend to be new world settings. The exception to that is #TamLin which is a mix of otherworld and the mortal world

My Dystopia and suspense novels are real world settings

#TamLin starts with Janet going to Carterhaugh woods despite being forbidden to do so because Tam Lin resides there. Knowing the dangers, Janet goes there anyway. She is head strong, fiercely independent and determined.

Some antagonists are just 'evil', but they have motivations, mostly power. Antagonists who are evil for the sake of it are few and far between. If there's no motivation then it's harder to create drivers for their actions. Antagonists driven by events are much more interesting.

spicydragoon.bsky.social
As someone who believes that people are inherently good, or at least a blank slate, I just don't find evil for the sake of it all that compelling, evil is a deviation from the norm and it can be interesting to explore how folks got that way.

I see you've never been near an English degree course or examined its syllabus. Degree level here is University and we're talking about degree level English in the UK.

Nice whataboutism. If they were discussing Tolkien it would be an Eng Lit degree, not Eng lang. Discussing authorial bias matters.
