"Israel has continued since then to demolish hundreds of homes and critical civilian infrastructure in what residents see as an effort to not just prevent their return but erase their history."

Lebanon, not Gaza. Modus operandi the same.
Despite a ceasefire, Israel has demolished villages in southern Lebanon
Along Lebanon's border, Israel has continued demolitions and attacks despite a ceasefire in the country's war with Hezbollah last year.

I decided this morning that I will now approach every online video I see as fake - and attempt to be doubly wary if it supports or illustrates my main prejudices.
Look folks gen AI videos are out in the wild so if you weren't already being careful about sharing rage bait videos then now is a great time to start

If you can't trace a video back to a trusted source then I recommend leaving it where it is, like a slice of bologna you found on the street

Why is this happening? Oklahoma has tens of thousands of abandoned, unplugged oil wells.

When oil companies dispose of wastewater by injecting into the ground, those wells provide pathways for the waste to shoot thousands of feet to the surface, contaminating drinking water sources along the way.
Toxic Wastewater From Oil Fields Keeps Pouring Out of the Ground. Oklahoma Regulators Failed to Stop It.
Salt water laced with cancer-causing chemicals, a byproduct of oil and gas drilling, is spewing from old wells. Experts warn of a pollution crisis spreading underground and threatening Oklahoma’s…

Of course that does not solve the water problem or all the issues of data centres themselves...
I really really love this.
Any energy intensive industry could do this! In Australia gains would so big.

That's community benefits. Particularly if they prioritise equity! The social licence!

If they could add thermal envelope upgrades too, we so desperately need good shading, insulation etc...
I'm a sucker for cool ideas. If we *need* data centers (questionable), Rewiring America has a cool idea: the data centers can fulfill their power needs faster and no more expensively by buying families heat pumps to replace resistance heating.

New report: Household upgrades could offset all new projected data center energy demand | Rewiring America
Our report, Homegrown Energy, finds household upgrades are the best, fastest solution for increasing energy demand.

Geezus these people are petty, vindictive, controlling fucks. I don't even think the LNP believe any of the lies they try to sell to the general public. They're just hateful bigots who fundamentally don't care about people and only care about enforcing their agendas on everyone else.

I know you are all sick of the doomerism and while we can't roll back time, we can stop burning fossil fuels and leave them in the ground. We really really DO NOT NEED THEM.
But we really really need to stop using them .

Interesting. The source is tough to navigate, but the author appears to have some standing.
If we really want to deter suicide and self-harm, we should prescribe social media to teenagers, not ban it
The anti-teen-social-media case keeps falling apart even as it peaks politically.

It does seem like yet another moral panic, meanwhile age verification is looming and corporations and governments cannot wait to collect even better data on us and ruin our privacy further. When has indiscriminate surveillance been a good thing ever?

1) Healthcare and childcare CEOs and top execs are getting rich by failing us.

They rake in millions in bonuses even as their companies rack up fines for misconduct or face safety breaches.
Death by consultation that never really influence anything because all the influence is with fossil fuel donors and lobbies

I quite enjoyed a lot of the takedowns of Bill Gates' EA brain snap on climate. It is really deadassed in a number of ways.

But no-one mentioned the most important thing. He isn't *just* full of shit. He knows he is full of shit.

I can prove it: timinclimate.medium.com/even-bill-ga...
Even Bill Gates knows he is full of shit
Did you hear about that “one low-income country set out to cut emissions by banning synthetic fertilizers”?

There are minor good points in there, but these pale in comparison to the bad.

Australia's federal environmental law has never been about protecting our precious species and places. It has always been about allowing significant harm to them.

That process is about to get so, so much more efficient.
