If you live or travel through Brighton Park on Archer, please let alderwoman Julia Ramirez know that this safety improvement is appreciated. Urge her to stick to her guns. The opposition is small but very loud.

CBS just produced an extremely one-sided report on the Archer Complete streets project, repeatedly calling the project "reducing Archer Avenue from 4 lanes to 2" for bike lanes, when it's really a 4 -> 3 conversion to make the street safer for all users. What are your thoughts on this segment?

We asked CDOT what’s on tap in terms of properly maintaining Chicago’s protected bike lanes after snowstorms. Promptly plowing is needed, or else they'll face arguments that riders were better off with old-style, paint-only bikeways.

Unprotected bus lanes are not a solution when the problem is speeding drivers. It might even encourage more left-lane overtakers to travel at deadly speeds.

The existing CDOT plan is designed to address the speeding problem and benefit bus riders with boarding islands and safer crossings.
As previously discussed, Roger Romanelli, the guy who helped kill Ashland BRT, is trying to kill the Grand Avenue protected bike lanes. But he's not anti-bike lane, he's pro-(paint only) bus lane!

Chicago DOT- bike lanes are not plowed along Belmont east of Kimball. Cyclists are forced into vehicle travel lanes. We need to prioritize clearing snow for cyclists. Sidewalks are also a mess in this area. Let’s do better.

Noticed the article was quick to point out ridership declines from pre-pandemic but failed to mention ridership has increased significantly every year since 2020. Beyond that, for every $1 invested in the CTA, Metra, and Pace, the region sees $13 in economic output.

"De-protecting people on bikes and e-scooters does not support their safety. Moreover the notion that the lack of turn lanes at 18th/Wabash is causing congestion seems dubious, since these streets have relatively low traffic volumes."
Sad to see a project under way halted in favor of danger.
Ald. Dowell is forcing CDOT to tear out portions of already installed bike lane protection on 18th, including Chicago's first protected intersection.
