The guy shot two random people with a gun, I don't think you can say he wasn't assimilating into our culture
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

In medieval Constantinople, getting booed at a sporting event was often a sign that an Emperor's reign was about to come to a dramatic conclusion.
Every politician gets booed at games at some point, but I genuinely don’t remember an elected official getting booed for this long at a sporting event.

Trying out a new ab workout. It's definitely got those muscles sore!

...bronchitis. It's bronchitis. 0/10, do not recommend.

My eight year old just told me, in surprising detail for his age, all about the Punic Wars. Apparently he learned it all today. So yeah, his teacher kicks ass.

Dipped my toe in Europa Universalis V during my lunch break. Most complex, incomprehensible game I've ever seen. I *love it.*

I have decided that @patrickwyman.bsky.social is the David Attenborough of history. Listening to a podcast description of a hypothetical average ancient date farmer in the Babylonian economy and it's genuinely fascinating.

Someone tested in production 😱
In honor of spooky month, share a 4 word horror story that only someone in your profession would understand

I'll go first: Six page commercial lease.

I wish Spotify had a one-touch "play all of this artist's studio albums in release order" button. You can tell it to play *all* of their releases, but that often means hearing two or three versions of the same song in a single listening session because of singles, live albums, etc.

I swear, taking a sick day sends up some kind of Reverse Bat Signal. "Quickly, Gotham! Find something to need from Alex! Doesn't matter if you haven't needed anything in weeks. Now is the time!"

Just watched the live stream of @wtofficial.bsky.social at Wacken Open Air. Awesome show! Sharon den Adel and Floor Jansen in the same day...I'm gonna have to cross the pond for this one of these days.

Bought the small creature Minecraft with a dinosaur mod. He's now bricking up dinosaurs in walls of TNT before blowing them up. Brings back fond memories of my youth building murdercoasters in Roller Coaster Tycoon.

Working my way through the lengthy final narrative episode of Robin Pierson's excellent History of Byzantium podcast. Going to be a little strange not having new episodes to look forward to after 12 years of listening. "The city is fallen, but I am alive..."

Well, this was an infuriating read.
In areas hit by Texas floods, officials were sent over $5 million in federal ARPA funds in 2021.

They didn't want to spend it on flood warning systems due to their disdain for Biden - and didn't send it BACK because it might go to a blue state, and "values that we in Kerr county don't agree with."

Bought my 8yo son his first Pokémon game on Friday. He's been trying nonstop to teach me how to play. Oh child, do not lecture me on the Deep Magic. I was there when it was written!

This morning, I woke up to find him almost vibrating with excitement to give me this Pokémon. 🥹
