You might easily take this for tropical rainforest in some faraway country.

But it's an Irish temperate rainforest, a much *rarer* habitat.

And it's equally threatened, only by masses of deer, goats, and sheep, rather than chainsaws or bulldozers.

As autumn progresses the wrens in the garden will be seeking out cold weather roost sites.
Here they use the log shed - they love something that is cave-like.
The wren is the last bird to go to roost - often in the half-light, as bats are emerging.
You need to watch carefully.
