When do we think Trump is going to go for it and turn the White House into the Gold House?
andylaneauthor.bsky.social
I remember buying the original Star Wars novelisation and being stunned by it's sheer scale. "They can't do this on film," I thought. "They just can't". But I was wrong.

But to address your question: what if you read the novelisation afterwards? Added nuances and depth.
nevfountain.bsky.social
I read the novelisations of the Star Wars, Empire and Jedi before I saw the films. But would I do that now, if tv tie-in books were still a thing? Is the tv tie-in book now so worthless that I now feel I would be cheating on a movie by learning its plot before seeing the film?

Got angry about a spoiler for a tv show. Realised I already knew the spoiler cos I read the book a while back. But had forgotten the spoiler. Does it count as a spoiler? And other philosophical questions at breakfast.

I'm looking forward to being there, having had to miss Eastercon for unfortunate reasons. Coming mob-handed, with my son and two of the feral 20-year-olds that live with us.

Not taking part in any panels at World Fantasy Convention, happily, but I'll be there! Meetings with authors and publishers, attending book launches, etc! And doubtless running into old chums. The Metropole knows us well, having been the venue for SF and Fantasy conventions since 1979...

Looked at another electric razer. Amazon proudly told me that customers who bought this item also bought multi-packs of pot-noodles. That does not fill me with confidence.
andylaneauthor.bsky.social
Just looking for an electric razor on Amazon, because I've shaved my beard off. Found an ideal one. Decided to check the reviews. First review was for a calendar. Second review was for drinks coasters. Third review said: "My wife and I bought several of these to go around our dog's grave". Hmm....

I've picked quite a few of these for my Kindle over the past few years, because Amazon have a bizarre habit of randomly reducing certain Star Trek ebooks to 99p for a couple of weeks.
davidkitchen.bsky.social
Some comments on a podcast recently reminded me how much I enjoyed some of the Trek books, back when as a teen I was reading the DW Virgin books.
A few personal faves (which AREN'T Imazi, because everyone says Imzadi! 😂)

Not, as far as I am aware, the oyster's natural habitat...
andylaneauthor.bsky.social
Which is ironic, considering that some people on here were clutching their pearls a few weeks back about the 'fact' that Nigel Farage and Reform were getting all the media attention. It all evens out in the end. These things shall pass.

My aunt - who is in her 70s - rang me to ask about Zack Polanski.

She never goes on the internet unless she absolutely has to. I mentioned Zack to her the last time we spoke.

Today, she rang me to ask about him and said "he's everywhere atm! on every channel!" 😆
andylaneauthor.bsky.social
Or you could join Reform...

Hey, I'm still waiting for a sequel to Condorman...

Disney has tried so hard to make Tron into a viable franchise, but they did zilch with The Rocketeer. For shame.

The trauma of moving all those books last time has made me decide to die in this house. Probably when all of my books fall on me.

Carved? Was it still there when you went back?

A literary Iguanodon at the Earth Sciences Library. Do any other libraries have dinosaurs or other antediluvian creatures carved into the furniture?

They are being funded by George Soros.

Joke.

Weird how Antifa never asks me for money. Everyone else does, but Antifa is very quiet.

Not me. I see it go past, and sometimes I wave...

Is it wrong if me to believe that 'Double Indemnity' is the sequel to 'Single Indemnity', and that a planned 'Triple Indemnity' was never made?

You mean it's not a script at all? Clever!

My incendiary new spec script is set in a quiet suburb… BUT IT TURNS OUT TO JUST BE A FACADE

He was my boss for a while (by which I mean he was at the top of the food chain, about eight levels above me). Very much admired by his immediate staff, I understand.

Heseltine was the biggest of the big beasts and was always a good media player.

“You described Reform and other parties across Europe today as among the 'right wing equivalents of the fascists in the 1930s'. Why?”

“Because that’s what they are”

@vicderbyshire.bsky.social asks Lord Heseltine about remarks he made at Conservative Party Conference.

Discussing with a friend which Who parts Patricia Routledge could have played.

We settled on Helen A or the Captain from Earthshock. But neither of those should be touched.

However. Imagine her Rani. "Einstein!"

It is the Tory party conference, though. They remember the 1980s because they’re still living there.
