Give a man a fish and someone with a thousand fishes is going to bitch about people getting free handouts. Teach a man to fish? Yeah, that person with a thousand fishes is going to bitch about that too.

trust is neither given nor earned. it forms naturally between people who share the experience of having listened to Skinny Puppy at or after 3 am in the dark by themselves

50 years ago: Bowie completes the filming of "The Man Who Fell to Earth," with the last scene shot at Butterfields restaurant, on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. An image from the scene later appears in The Defenders, No. 52 (Oct 1977, Kraft/Giffen/Stone)

The Rolling Stone guides were a crash course for tween me on music history, and sure enough instilled a warped view of what was “good” that changed when teen me was blown away after hearing “The Man Who Sold the World” (★★ according to RS)
the viciousness of these early Rolling Stone guides are something else---a baffling, oft-malign influence if these were among the first rock crit volumes you read (as was the case w/me--I recall hearing the first X records & thinking "huh, ok, these got one star?")
At least they switched to chronological order for the Blue guide (retained the copy and ignored the albums that came out in the interim but the order makes sense).

One of my favorite new projects. The sooner you check it out the better, because it’s only going to get harder the more that 10k horizon comes into view
my newest drum machine at 10kdrummachines.com uses "famous" number sequences to create rhythms. Everything from Fibonacci and primes to numbered street Manhattan stops on the 6 train

Make some beats. And then make your own drum machine and send it to me so we can publish it!
