Lexiters: the ultimate useful idiots for the hard right.
An unrepentant, die-herd Brexiteer like Redwood is becoming an endangered species. Larry 'Lexit' Elliott, of The Guardian, has written about the reduced funding for regional economic development as a consequence of Brexit. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

We don't get to make this point when our party is using its time in govt to tell immigrants 'you might have wait 20 years until you can settle here permanently, and even then we might not let you'.

We don't get to make this point when we're doing nothing in response to rising racism.

Much as Brexit is awful, this isn't really true though. The increase in numbers coming on small boats is down to increased crackdown on other methods of arrival.
Also, I object to the implication that people coming here to claim asylum is something which demands an apology from anyone.
Daisy Cooper, "In 2017 there was not a single asylum seeker that arrived on a boat"

"Today we have 46,000 a year"

"And do you know why?"

"Brexit"

A Labour government passed the Equality Act. A Labour government was in power when the Supreme Court interpreted it to not mean what ministers at the time were clear it was intended to mean. The Labour government response should have been to legislate to fix it. Not doing so was a cowardly betrayal.

for the record everyone should be mad *at the government* for this

I'm at the in-laws and just glanced through today's Daily Mail. To say it's utterly insane is a massive understatement. Completely psychopathic stuff.

OK, this is a decent joke, but Farage's closeness to Tru should be just as damning as his party's links to Russia, yet for some reason the government don't seem to want to mention that.

It’s especially ironic because the lecture is exactly about the ‘paralyzing cowardice’ of today’s elites.

About universities, corporations and media networks bending the knee to authoritarianism. /4

As many of you know, I do a lot of volunteer work with asylum seekers and refugees. One thing that’s going on is that Labour’s hostility towards migrants and the counterbattery from Tories and Reform is causing horrific fear and anxiety among vulnerable people who deserve our protection.
