Sometimes I only scroll the "Mutuals" tab on Bluesky and it's such a nice experience, I highly recommend it. :)

Great place to work at (ok, I am biased), integration with archaeologists and linguists + pretty flexible research topic

There's someone with the same last and first name as me who does research in civil engineering, every week or so I get invited to review a paper or go to an engineering conference… Poor guys must be thinking nobody invites him to anything.

Eu acho que a primeira vez que eu me senti traído pelo capitalismo foi ainda criança assistindo aquele filme que o menino recebe a mensagem “não esqueça de beber seu Ovomaltine”.

It's really important to note that not only was Watson a racist and misogynist but his contribution to the double helix was listening to a Rosalind Franklin lecture and getting mad because Francis Crick wouldn't invite him to his sex parties.

It’s criminal that all those big tech giants haven’t donated buckets of money to the Python Foundation!
TLDR; The PSF has made the decision to put our community and our shared diversity, equity, and inclusion values ahead of seeking $1.5M in new revenue. Please read and share. pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/10/NSF-...

Python was awarded a funding grant, funding grant asked Python foundation to remove all diversity and inclusion initiatives they have.

Python foundation said no and rejected the grant.

I was trying to find the telomeric sequences they used/found on the paper www.nature.com/articles/s41.... "Telomeric sequences were identified across all assemblies using Telofinder" was written a couple of times and telomers mentioned a dozen times, but no sign of what these sequences were… :\

Ah, e ela toca guitarra no show.

Oh, Jane Goodall. You were such a good'un.

We'll struggle to see your like again - but we promise to remember what you tried to teach us about extending curiosity and kindness beyond the selfish, inward-looking needs of our own species.

"Europe cannot afford to forget a fundamental truth: values and principles are not luxuries to be set aside when the pressure mounts. Defending them is not naive idealism – it is a strategic necessity, both to counter authoritarianism at home and to shape a rules-based, multipolar world abroad."
'EU leaders & institutions are not only bending to the hardening authoritarianism across the Atlantic. They also routinely placate far-right forces at home (corroding) the very values & principles – democracy, rule of law, open markets & climate responsibility – that they claim to uphold'
