There was a remarkable moment in the budget committee just now where Sara Nelson asked about how arts funding is used for graffiti, as shown in this slide.

City staff outright admitted this is just the dedicated admissions tax that funds the Arts and Culture dept being diverted for graffiti.

I also don’t want to demonize benzos since some people really do rely on them to manage extreme anxiety. I just wish that people would read up on the potential consequences and be informed. And if possible, stick to benzos with a long half life, like diazepam, over potent ones like klonopin.

Peterson himself doesn’t deserve sympathy but benzo withdrawal is deathly serious and should not be done lightly. For some people it is a monstrously difficult experience. There are materials online like the Ashton Manual that can help guide a measured taper. They helped me and I’m still here today.

Peterson is back in the news and that includes jokes about mold and benzos, so I just want to say that if you have been prescribed benzodiazepines for any period of time to seriously discuss that with your doctor. I went through actual, literal hell for 14 months tapering off of clonazepam.

A goofy example I thought of while posting in this thread is “slay” as in “she slayed with that outfit!”

“Slay” is traditionally a transitive verb and needs an object: he slayed a dragon

But in this antipassive-like derivation, “slay” loses the object. “She slays.” Slays what? Doesn’t matter!

One more thought, sorry for mucking up your thread (this is a special interest), but people aren’t ready to learn about how some languages have an antipassive voice where the *object* of a transitive verb is deleted, leaving just the actor as sole subject.
