FCC should stop this before launch

“Give us 4 minutes. If everyone hates it, we can turn it off,” they say, but once up there, would they?

Beaming a 'sun spotlight' anywhere on earth has nasty military applications & unknown (bad) effects on wildlife, just to boost #solar energy output further 🤔

It’s so cool to have hitched your wagon 20 years ago to an industry that was booming beyond anyone’s expectations and have it turn out to be stripmined and utterly hollowed out by Shareholder Value, and every other industry you could slot into has been, surprise, hollowed out by Shareholder Value

Good thing MAHA is in the government. 🙃🤡
The EPA has approved two new pesticides with "forever chemicals" that will be used on food.

The agency has also announced plans for four additional approvals.

The approved pesticides will be used on vegetables such as romaine lettuce, broccoli and potatoes.

The COP30 climate conference wrapped up on Sat and we have thoughts!

@amywestervelt.bsky.social, @fisherdanar.bsky.social and I discuss the bad news--how the COP30 agreement didn't mention fossil fuels, the good news--new opportunities for climate policy, and the overall utility of global meetings.

Given that the words "information integrity" were followed by, effectively, science denial in the #COP30 text, that is not a win but rather a co-opting of the language folks are trying to use to fight climate disinfo. drilled.ghost.io/there-can-be...

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

I’m a law prof & a YLS grad and anyone familiar w elite law schools knows it is beyond laughable to describe these places as radicalism hotbeds. Cruz knows this, as does JD Vance. But they assume that their marks are too unsophisticated to know it too. It’s condescending as hell.

Hi, hello, regarding latest #COP30 text you cannot talk about "information integrity" on climate out one side of your mouth while the other is busy removing "fossil fuel phaseout" & adding "overshoot". anyone who gives a shit about information integrity should be saying so, loudly and clearly.
