Can’t believe I’m having to post this again.

Things you don’t get to choose; Sexuality, gender, ethnicity, disability, mental/physical health, religion you’re born into.

Things you do get to choose; Whether or not to be an arsehole to someone about any of these things.

So people only start to #compost in the spring? None of the #garden or hardware stores in my area have bins for sale rn. I guess my pile is going into old garbage cans until I can get something shipped.

I give you Pepper Thee Pepper. This bell pepper plant grew from a seed a child planted after most pepper plants are well-established in our area. Pepper sprouted, was nibbled by a rabbit, persisted, and in October set flowers. One grew to this teensy bell pepper that I love. #Gardening #TinyJoys

Remember when they said they were only going to deport criminals? Not only have they been going after grandmothers and cops, but now priests.

From an Evanston resident filming an arrest at Oakton/Asbury ~an hour ago:

"He was being very violent with her, I said ‘You got to stop that,’ and he said, ‘Step back or I’ll fucking shoot you.‘ I step back, and then I continue to record, at which point he turned around and pointed a gun at me.”

Need to question buying food from Walmart to give to the food banks.

Feels like another pump on the middle class to redistribute wealth upwards again.

Donate money to food banks.
They can do more than you can with that dollar.

Disabled people can't always save money on food but choosing different or cheaper things.

Many of us have to eat what we do, and changing it could have serious health impacts.
Others have disabilities meaning they have to buy pre-prepared stuff.

We should never judge or preach.

Good morning, friends. When you notice someone lagging, stand beside them. If they're being overlooked or excluded, bring them into the circle. If they've been knocked down, pick them up. Validate their value. A simple act of kindness can have a profound impact on their life.

Everything matters and yes this does too.
A lot of folks may think that just yelling at ICE agents is ineffective, but consider the cumulative psychological toll of being yelled at EVERY DAY when trying to do shit. Even the biggest asshole in the world who doesn't give a shit about other people will feel the pressure.

I went to the craft store to get supplies for a Halloween costume a kid just told me they wanted.
I walked in behind a white-haired person shuffling along, and a young adult wearing a crop top they crocheted themself, and I feel like we encompass the main craft store audience.

Still not liveposting this hearing b/c it's dense, largely administrative issues, but this was worth highlighting:

District Judge Jeff Cummings just asked a govt atty if he can certify relevant immigration detainees are being held in "safe and sanitary" conditions.

"I cannot," a govt atty replied.
Good afternoon from Chicago's Dirksen federal courthouse. Now sitting in on a hearing in the Castañon-Nava settlement case, which limits immigration agents' aurhority to conduct warrantless arrests.
