Exhausted liberal; social scientist and lawyer by day, mediocre knitter and KDrama fan by night. The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice . . . I hope. Oh, and tell your dog I said “Hi.”

What really bugs me about the continued—somehow—relevance, centrality, whatever, of the 2009-ish centrists is that as a rule they never ever concede a point. I get that’s how you become them, never abandoning the air of correctness, but for the rational argument set it makes me want to gargle glass.
John Dickerson led me to discover @jamellebouie.net , who was a frequent guest on Political Gabfest. And for that, I will always be grateful.
dickerson is one of the best broadcast journalists in the game, and someone who would clearly be a real asset to a new leader interested in strengthening the network's journalism. but, of course, we know weiss isn't actually interested in journalism as such.
John Dickerson To Depart CBS News In First Major Talent Exit Under New Paramount Owners
John Dickerson, co-anchor of CBS Evening News who has been with the network since 2009, said that he is exiting at the end of this year.

Trump: AOC is low IQ. If you give her an IQ test, have her pass like the exams that I decided to take when I was at Walter Reed. Those are very hard…

Establishing that the government has a right to summarily execute members of any nebulously bounded group that caused the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans should probably worry cigarette companies, liquor manufacturers and vaccine skeptics.
TRUMP: "We have legal authority [for boat strikes], right? We're allowed to do that. And if we do by land, we may go back to Congress. ... They killed 300,000 Americans last year, and that gives you legal authority."

yes. this has basically been one of the themes my column for the last few months!
I think many people of various ideological persuasions are missing how much the ground has shifted against Trump in the realm of public opinion in the last 9 months. Mostly because they’ve bought into the manufactured media narrative that Trump won a “mandate”—which wasn’t true.

you know it is not at all difficult to acknowledge the legitimate concerns about the tattoo and still make a case for the candidate. but this would require maturity, a perspective outside ones own and a willingness to lose a little face, which means it won’t happen.

Still think the clearest and simplest way to explain Trump's whole deal is that he thinks holding an office means you own all the stuff involved. The president, as the highest office, owns, well, everything.

Hi, person who writes satire here. That video wasn’t satire or anything close to it, you profoundly hypocritical weirdo.
Q: What does it say that president released a video of him pooping on the American people?

MIKE JOHNSON: You can argue he's probably the most effective person who has ever used social media. He's using satire to make a point. He's not calling for the murder of his political opponents.

This is legit disgusting and I can’t believe the actual president of the United States of America is posting this garbage. It will never not be astonishing.
and another thing: he’s not mad. please don’t put it in the newspaper that he got mad.

Man between the utility in organizing a massive day of protest and the full-ass president of the United States posting AI video of himself dumping shit on people, big day for “the internet on the whole sure was a mixed bag!”

"In Belém, we have the first COP to take place in a new reality: the first where we can be sure that we WILL cross limits" is a really interesting shift in climate diplomacy-related rhetoric. And look, there've been 29 of these and here we are; might as well shake shit up.

I wrote about the new climate tipping points report, how that sort of rhetoric has left me a bit cold in the past, and how there seems to be an attempt to repurpose some of the scariest climate stuff toward positive ends.
