Accidentally told my 15yo to “email” someone instead of “text”
Him: Great. I’ll forward them a file. I could call them on the land line!

Yasssss weight lifting!!! I love it so much! Pick up a heavy thing! Put it down! [repeat!]
one story I have heard (I will fact check this) is that our alert system has been down for a month. The irony is that our admin tripped over themselves to immediately comply with anti-DEI orders (we had 2 weeks to change our program language) but apparently no worries about compliance here?
Yeah I'm about to reach out to someone...
I think some young men have been emboldened by [gestures everywhere]. I remember seeing signs right after the election saying "your body, my choice." Rape is the logical conclusion to these beliefs.
Another side effect: the incidents of rape on my campus. Equally disturbing is the fact that the university is no longer emailing the entire campus with an alert (they used to do this). We only find out in the local news:
3rd rape reported at ECU

Over 1,200 convicted Jan 6 rioters pardoned—yet Mike Johnson still swears they “stand with Capitol Police.” The plaque still collecting dust says otherwise. The only thing they’ve stood with is their own reflection, choking on the stench of their own gaslighting.

Two sets of parents who are currently suing OpenAI for losing their kids to suicide because of ChatGPT might have something to say about "now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues" part.
Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

OpenAI’s strategy is very clear, it’s trying to get people - especially young people - so reliant on its products intellectually & emotionally (& now sexually!) that going without them becomes unthinkable. And they need signs of that strategy working to keep the funding flowing in
Coffee? You never liked coffee! Remember when everyone stopped liking that? It’s good that it is so expensive now, given how much people do not like it
Tariffs have rapidly increased the price of coffee—a drink with almost no nutritional value and lots of functional substitutes. Yet coffee may also be the one thing Americans can’t live without, @elcush.bsky.social writes:
The Drink That Americans Won’t Give Up Without a Fight
Coffee has almost no nutritional value and lots of substitutes. It’s also, apparently, too important to lose.

Emily Tucker argues that the AI regulation debate largely misses the point: the real threat to democracy is the unchecked data extraction and accumulation that is fueling corporate power. “We can have mass surveillance, or we can have political self-determination. We can’t have both,” she writes.
To Have Democracy, We Must Contest Data | TechPolicy.Press
Emily Tucker makes the case for redlines for data, not AI—real limits on corporate data collection to protect democracy and political self-determination.

The Regime's goal is to grind everyone down. Plain & simple. Our goal is to refuse this by taking turns to fight where and how we can. When one group needs to bow out, then another group needs to step in and so on. We don't all have to do everything. We can all do something though. Stay in the fight
