Not to put too fine a point on it, but I absolutely despise Starmer and the whole government for how far to the right they have gone on attacking vulnerable people. UK pushing for this shows a complete disregard for the lives of people crossing the channel.

UK energy bill payers to hand £2bn a year in subsidies to EDF, owned by the French govt, for building two nuclear power stations.

That will come handy in keeping energy prices down in France, improving govt finances.

Dividends won't be taxed in the UK.

This is how the Mail has covered a 70% fall in net migration.

The Government should stop kidding itself it will ever get credit for being anti-migration. They could cut numbers to zero and there would still be front pages blasting them for making the UK a socialist wasteland no one wants to come to

One big risk to the OBR forecasts has already materialised -migration is falling more quickly than their projections and that will hit growth and tax revenue.

Why is this not part of the discussion on Rachel Reeves balancing her books & stalled growth?

For every 100,000 drop in net immigration, the OBR adds £7bn to the deficit. #r4today

The drop in people coming to the UK will be celebrated by some, but there's nothing to celebrate. This is a sign that the UK is becoming an even more hostile place. We see that with increases in hate crimes as well. Why would you celebrate that? Why be happy that the country is becoming worse?
