Alyssa is a PhD student focusing her dissertation on comparing the life history/ecology of gars/bowfins in northern vs. southern regions. She is also collaborating with Native American tribes to explore how they value and manage these fish. #GarWeek

Alligator #gar are an incredible fish, and one of the largest freshwater fish in North America- reaching over 6 feet long and weighing over 100 pounds. They may even reach 8+ feet and 300+ pounds!
